This is the first 1 star review I can remember ever giving.. Let me say that I understand the Covid pandemic caused a shortage of quality workers in the food service industry. It hit this Applebee's in the worst way. I don't think this restaurant can survive with its current state of wait staff. First the good. The food was best I have ever had from Applebee's. The manager worked very hard to hold things together. Now the bad. The worst service I have ever experienced in a restaurant. I'm a 52 year old "foodie". I eat out all the time. There was no host to greet you. After waiting 17 minutes with servers gingerly passing by trying not to make eye contact, I found the manager and asked him if we just seat ourselves. He told me to wait at the front and someone would be with me shortly. 20 minutes later we were seated. We waited 45 minutes before I went to the bar to order 3 waters for me and my family. Wait staff continued to casually walk by without acknowledging us. People were seated at the bar 20 minutes after we were seated. Received their food 10 minutes after I ordered water at the bar. There were 3 other families seated at the same time as us. NONE of us were waited on nor acknowledged. After seeing the patrons at the bar get food I walked up to the bartender and asked him to place our order. He placed our order and the food came out in a timely manner. Now I had to go back to the bar to get some silverware. The manager walked by and we simply asked him "what's going on?" He apologized for the delay. As stated before he was hustling the whole 2+ hours we were in the restaurant. Applebee's should be ashamed of themselves! The big question is why did we stay and wait? It was 9:42 pm when we arrived. We had been on the road for over 7 hours traveling from Oklahoma headed to Atlanta in the pouring rain pulling a trailer. This was the only restaurant in the area that stayed open past 10:00. We were tired, wet and hungry. Read more0 star rating! It’s awful. This was my first time actually going inside this restaurant. I did order online once. Walked in through Curbside door and stood waiting in the back. So every white waitress who passed by didn’t acknowledge me as if I were invisible. Anyway, I’m thinking well I did come in through the back door and I should be at the front door. So after a while, I approached a waitress and ask where to order TO GO. She says at the bar. I almost walked out because the atmosphere was very unwelcoming, no greetings. But I sat at the bar waiting to order, the light skinned black lady working the bar was walking off. She didn’t say “hello” or “I’ll be back” (nothing) has absolutely no “people skills’ whatsoever and I thought that's ok she's just not a friendly type..nothing personal against me. When she does come back, she has a very nonchalant attitude. I’m ordering a baked potato with a 2 for $20 meal and she says no potatoes after 4pm. I explained I have ordered a baked potato online curbside with a 2 for $20 with no issues at this same store. She offers no explanation and points to the sides on the menu acting as if she has something better to do. In the middle of ordering something else, I came to the realization of the entire experience and I cancelled the order. I was not giving this store my money. And I’m the type whom sympathizes with people who may be having a bad day or personal problems and hardly ever give bad ratings but I will never go back to: APPLEBEE’S on Desoto Cove in Horn Lake, MS in front of Home Depot. As I entered your Applebees I was suppose to be greeted by Jahela but instead I approached her she walked my family to our table and I said Thank you for seating us and even for bringing our utensils over, she still did not acknowledge me or even say your welcome at all! My waiters name is Isaiah (nice guy) first of all but i don't think the restaurant industry is for him, he was to layed back soft spoken and was not familiar with the menu. We did a 2 for $20 our appetizers were caesar side salad he asked what dressing we said caesar and he had a blank look as if it was rare to have caesar dressing on a caesar salad. For my main dish I ordered the lemon cedar grill chicken based on the picture I couldn't tell what the side was served with the chicken when I asked what sides comes with the meal I was told none ( me: blank stare) my husband asked if it was rice in the picture and he then said oh yea rice comes with it, it would of been nice for him to tell me that the rice was made with cranberries and quinoa as well. My daughter chicken tenders and fries was last to come out I was almost finish with my meal that i wasn't satisfied with, before I asked what happen to her chicken tenders and I was told that the fries were not finish. Overall as you could tell my experience at your Applebees was very disappointing.
I can only suggest when hiring your servers customer service should be top notch and servers should be familiar with the menu and if not there's not shame in saying your not sure but you can check with another employer. I hope my review helps im not trying to get anyone in trouble, But honestly management needs...
