Via my dear sister about her experience with the manager on 6/10/2025: Guess what happened today... We took my grandd6 to the Grand Buffet, Sushi and Grill, next to Target, for her birthday. We've eaten here multiple times, never had an issue. Normally on her special day, we eat at a Mexican restaurant (inclusion of both cultures). I spoke to the hostess (tall Asian guy, with glasses) about a birthday song. He sent over a short Asian lady, hair pulled back with glasses. I inquired about a birthday song and asked if it could be sung in spanish since they have Mexican workers employed there (granddaughter is Black/Latino). She explained to me that the only person that spoke English and Spanish was off and asked if I would still like the Happy Birthday song. I said, Yes of course. Now she's speaking perfect English with me and understood everything I said, however when she started talking to our waitress in their native language it got weird. Every other word she was saying NEEGA this, NEEGA that. After that 4th NEEGA, I intervened their conversation and asked her, "In Your Language, What Does The Word NEEGA Mean???? Because you keep saying it and any language particularly in the U.S. it's a derogatory word and very hateful and I'm sure you're aware of the history in the South. She's not a NEEGA and neither am I, so stop saying it. As a matter of fact, I DECLINE THE BDAY SONG." I proceeded to go to my table to gather our things and saw the hostess again. When I spoke with him, I informed him of what was said and how I felt offended that she kept calling my grandbaby, celebrating her 5th birthday, NEEGA. He had a state of confusion on his face and told me I can speak to the manager... Take a good guess who the manager is??? CORRECT... She is. I said, "Oh, no sir. I have nothing to say to her and if that's how she speaks about your black patrons, she's pathetic. He started speaking in the native language to her and not one time did he use the " N" word but whatever he asked her, she began explaining herself and said NEEGA this and NEEGA that and was LOUD with it this go round. So by now my daughter hears it, others like US and few YT. Some even got up and walked out. By this time, it's getting heated, everyone asking her, "What is NEEGA in your language and why you keep saying it after being asked not to." Her response, "IM NOT SAYING ANYTHING WRONG. I'M NOT SAYING ANYTHING WRONG" but went back to her native language... NEEGA THIS... NEEGA THAT. Needless to say, even some of the employees were saying whatever and walked away shaking their heads. Our waitress came up and was apologetic. I thank God my grandbaby doesn't know what hate is and hopefully will never have to experience such an environment. I'm not on no boycott crap because some of US still have that Simp mentality regardless of.. I know, they'll Never get...
Read moreI've eaten here numerous times over the years, but this was most definitely my last time. Here's why...
The Good: They have a wide variety of food that is good and kept pretty fresh. If you go away hungry, it's your own fault.
The Bad: I understand it's a buffet, but the price is far too expensive. Adults can expect to pay $20 before tip and for my 3 year old daughter, it was about $7. Then when our waitress brought our ticket (while we were still eating and finishing up), she just stood there until I gave her my card. Then when she came back after running the card, she just stood there waiting for her tip.
The Ugly: My family (including my 3 year old daughter) were seated in the back room that had a TV on opposite walls. The movie that was playing was an extremely violent movie that had extreme gore (beheading, stabbing, etc.) as well as a sex scene. I tried asking our waitress to please change the channels or turn it off, but she told us to just change tables or talk to the manager. I went up to the front but the manager had apparently just left. I ended up speaking to a guy who was apparently the only one working who could speak English. After telling him what was wrong and asking if they could change the channel or unplug it, he said the remote was supposedly locked in an office and to unplug it, he'd have to get a step ladder...then he just walked away.
We used to enjoy coming here, but given the ridiculous prices, the rude service, and the filth that kids are exposed to, we'll never be back.
If you're looking for good Chinese food, I HIGHLY recommend Mr. Chen's in Hernando or Senatobia! Their food is excellent, the service is friendly and fast, and the prices are very reasonable. In other words, they are the opposite of the...
Read moreLet me start out by saying that I’m a law abiding citizen that pays taxes, and have never been in trouble with the law. I treat others how I want to be treated; especially hard working people in the service industry, of all races. However, there’s a supposed major strike against me… I’m black. And sometimes other races of people tend to believe that one bad apple spoils the bunch; which is false. Just because the media isn’t on our side doesn’t mean that other races do not have “bad apples”.
I’ve said that to say this. This place treats black people very poorly, and because we are such a forgiving people we are so used to being treated poorly , and we’ll go out to continue to support businesses that treats us with prejudice. We tend to still give them our hardworking black dollars.
I’m so disgusted by the horrible service here. I was with my sister and my 8mths old son when we were harassed by a fairly large group of the waitstaff. My sister and I were having such good conversation that we didn’t notice that they were closing, and instead of saying it politely a group of them stood just a couple feet away from our table, as we were apologizing and gathering up our belongings. They even walked us out of the door. I will never ever give this business my money ever again. Black people let’s stop giving these businesses out money that do not provide the good customer service that we are owed just like the next customer. When we keep to it we will see how long these businesses will stay afloat. Why am I spending my money, while there’s inflation, be treated low class bc I’m black, and I’m paying to be disrespected? If the service is trash, the staff are trash, then I cannot enjoy the food so the food is trash too.
Never...
