So back on June 11 I ordered two gyro sandwiches with extra tomatoes. When I got back to my house with the order there were no tomatoes on either sandwich. I called the store asking for a refund or a credit on my account since I’ve been a long time customer. They told me the manager wasn’t in and he couldn’t give me a refund but if I came back in he could remake them. It was during rush hour and would have been a thirty minute round trip and didn’t want to get back in the car right after making said trip. He told me I could come in another day. Unfortunately I have been out of town and wasn’t able to make it up today July 9th. The guy at the front basically said no that only if I came back that day was the only way I could have gotten reimbursed . I asked him in future instances would I be able to get a refund, he ignored me the first time I asked and began to be very dismissive of me. I re-asked the question and he said he’d check for me. He then proceeded to sit down and scroll on his phone. After he gave me my food I stood and waited for his response and he had already moved on to other duties. So I repeated the question, asking if he had checked with a manager like he said he would and he replied with “uhhhh” so I told him not to worry about it and left. To which he replied “yeah have a good one” He in no way seemed sympathetic or apologized for anything and was uncaring during the whole interaction. I really love this place and was really let down by the staff and this is the only was I can get any reconciliation for the money, time and...
Read moreFrom the outside, cars and bicyclists riding by would never know that "Al's Quick Stop" is a restaurant by reading the name; as a neighbor you have to take the chance to walk inside. I want to support local businesses so I've stopped in, twice now. To their kudos, the inside is tidy and clean.
I've eaten there previously and it was fine. Today I went in, asked for their specialty and was recommended the cheesesteak gyro. I took it Take-Out. Now, a half hour after finishing, I feel terrible. Nauseated.**
I rang and spoke with Omar. I very politely conveyed my experience so he might look into it. Rather than saying; "we'll check our ingredients," or even "I'm very sorry, can we offer you something else" he seemed satisfied that it must be allergies (I do not have any, I told him) or else I was just "unlucky today" he suggested.
My friend, I want to support you as a neighborhood business, however blowing off a customer without offering apology or alternatives when he respectfully shares a concern... I can't support that.
** My stomach is roiling from too much salt, mayo and cheese. Perhaps that's not the issue, maybe the side condiment (tzatziki sauce) was on the...
Read moreThis place has really phenomenal Middle Eastern food. I really like the hummus a lot and they put a lot of tahini in it. If you don't like tahini you won't like their hummus. Their meats are good although there's some limited options at this restaurant versus the other AL quick stop. I really wish that with this great set of food, The attitude of the folks working there could improve. I just don't feel welcome. Yeah it's that bad! It doesn't look like they're happy working there. But again the food is really good. Call ahead and order or use their app and you won't have to even interact. On a positive note again they're grape leaves are also very good and they are vegetarian. There are a lot of vegetarian options here. The Greek salad while perhaps not terribly Greek is really good. If there are better falafel in the city I'd like to know...
