The reason why I’m giving it two stars is because the receptionist had the delicacy of calling me to follow up after the massage and offer a partial refund. My husband gave me a 90 minute massage as a valentine gift since we recently became parents of our 3 month old twins and he wanted me to leave the house. He saw the reviews and booked it. When I arrive at the place 5 minutes prior the massage the masseuse was walking in with me, I found out later when she introduced herself after 10 minutes of me waiting. She took me upstairs and she must’ve realized something with the room that had me walk downstairs again to wait for another 10 minutes she said “no problem I’ll give you the full 90 minutes”. She was not wearing any uniform or nothing that could signal masseuse.
My husband when booked stated that I was breastfeeding so they could make the arrangements for the massage, once in the room she asked if I was breastfeeding so It took another 5-7 minutes to go get the towels and get the table ready for the massage. I get at least two massages a month because of my line of work and let me tell you that this was the worst massage I have ever had, not only her nails were not trimmed but when I mentioned that her nails were poking me she said “I haven’t gotten my nails done” The massage did not include the arms or hands when facing up and she did not focus on my wrists which I had mentioned was interested in since I’m holding my babies with them. She was not gentle, very rough and very noisy while moving across the room, and she didn’t make up the time wasted for the waiting, poor customer service as she didn’t waited to give the water or to check out. Overall terrible massage, the receptionist was very kind and caring for me as a customer and I can’t even tell the name of the masseuse since she never introduced herself but I know there are multiple masseuses so hopefully the one you get is better than...

She harasses people who have received poor services at her spa instead of providing better service. I just wanted to make everyone aware that has darker skin DO NOT GET ANY CORRECTIVE SKIN PROCEDURES AT THIS SPA! I went in for a facial to correct my dark spots in January of this year and all they did was make my spots worse. Months later and im still so displeased with the damage they caused. DO YOURSELF A FAVOR AND JUST STAY AWAY COMPLETELY! The high ratings come from them offering $25 off your next service if you leave a review within 24 hrs of your initial service. Please for your own benefit continue looking elsewhere. The owner is a liar. She is the bully. You can look through the other one star reviews to see how she speaks to ppl. Just BEWARE. Do more research. Pay attention to the one star reviews. They tell you so much! And if you do choose to still visit i pray you don’t run into the damage that i did. All of the energy she has put into replying back to my public review she could have used in actually trying to help fix the damages i received before i decided to write a public review. Read moreI have been coming to My Spa Joy, the House of Angels in the Heights, for over a year. Their customer service is impeccable, arguably even moreso than the services themselves (which within itself are obviously amazing)! The receptionists (Alandra & Miriam), masseur (Ricardo), masseuses (Nike, Charisma, Morgan, Tamla, Trezure, Lule, Phylicia, Adelina, Athena & Nitta) and esthetician (Helena) have all been angels to me.
The receptionists are very understanding to the point that they will go above & beyond to try to work with you (if there are any difficulties). The spa’s fair but firm policies are more than reasonable from a business point of view, which is well articulated on their website (e.g., the 24-hour/48-hour cancellation policies). They were even willing to correct a billing mistake that occurred more than one year ago (I don’t know too many businesses that would do that, no less a wellness spa establishment!)
The heating pads used during the massages/body scrubs are very clutch & tailored to the individual (although it is difficult even for me to decide which services to get due to their many options!) The massages here (especially the deep tissue) are holistic in nature and focus on getting rid of the muscle knots in a slow & deliberate manner (which is much more relaxing, therapeutic & effective than the aggressive techniques used at Chinese massage establishments).
