What's it going to take to get my sandwich right? My office has lunch delivered from Pookie's every Monday. I regularly order a grilled cheese sandwich with bacon and tomato added to the sandwich, and sadly more often than not it comes out wrong!!! I have been given a BLT, a regular grilled cheese, cheese and tomato only, etc. There is usually something missing from my sandwich. Today, the bacon is missing off of my sandwich and they forgot someone's drink. Yet, they never forget to charge me. I just don't get why it seems to be so difficult to get such a simple order correct. This has literally been going on for years.
Please don't get me wrong, I like Pookie's. They have the best baked potatoes and potato salad I have ever had in my life!!! And the customer service is great! The delivery drivers are always so kind, always so willing to drive back to the restaurant to get my correct order and return with it. However, making my sandwich this way seems to be an incredibly difficult task for the kitchen. It's really frustrating to have to wait another hour to eat my lunch because of such a careless mistake. If it only happened occasionally, I wouldn't be on this site writing a review. It literally happens ALL OF THE TIME!!! My sandwich is always made incorrectly and drinks are forgotten...

I recently messed up smoking a brisket at home and overcooked it. It still had more flavor and was more enjoyable than the brisket here. You could throw a brisket in an instant pot with liquid smoke and get more of a BBQ flavor than this one had. The sausage I got with it also was nothing special. Tasted like typical grocery store sausage links with no hint of smoke.
Mac and cheese had decent flavor, as did the baked beans. They were both a solid 3.5 out of 5. But at a BBQ restaurant I want 3.5 sides only if the meat is a 5 or close to it. When the "pretty decent" sides are the best part of a BBQ meal, that's just sad.
To top it off, you're paying the same prices as you would for excellent BBQ at a couple of other places in Houston. If it was just ok but cost less, I might go back once in a while. But for the same money, there's much...
Read moreUpon arrival was immediately greeted by staff. The establishment was clean. Had a nice country rustic decor. I really liked the look and feel of the vibe here. Expected the food to be real good. Total shock! I'm abit picky about good BBQ. I ordered a three meat plate (as I always do) with two sides. Brisket, ribs, and sausage. Brisket was ok but cut too thin for me. Ribs were a bit greasy and alil too much charring. And,only served me one rib. Sausage was ok as well. Cut too thin but carving cuts were on point. Sides were what expected from canned goods. BBQ sauce was no winner here. Well,it wasn't for my taste buds. I'm a stout forty n sporty gentleman,I like plump servings. It's ok BBQ if, your not picky. I'll return again and give Aunt Pookie...
