This saddens me to write because my husband and I have been coming here for years! We love this place, food and most importantly their staff. That is until today. We normally order a michelada for my husband and a Chardonnay for me. They make the micheladas a little strong so we usually bring a little bottle of Clamato. Now we acknowledge that there is a sign that says “no outside food or drinks” on the door and have been lucky that they have allowed us to do so for so long. Tonight we stopped by and the manager Patricia came us to in a condescending way and said “ you’re not gonna drink that here right”. When I told her we’re planning on it she said we couldn’t. We totally understood and pit the Clamato up. One would think that would be the end of it. No she kept on about how we couldn’t drink that there and that there was cameras watching us and then said with a sarcastic look on her face “ we all would like to have Clamato with out Michelada “. We left it alone and just kept talking amongst ourselves. When my husband gets the michelada he asked the bartender if he could put just a little less of their hot sauce in it because it’s very strong, hence him taking the Clamato . Patricia looked at us and said “ we are still going to charge you the same price”. I mean duh!!!! We Weren’t asking for a discount. She was rude and condescending which is bad on their part. We had a long day at work and were planning on having a few drinks and Finally getting my fried fish from captain bennys that I had been craving all day! We left and went down the street to the Flying fish, where it’s a bit more pricey and they don’t even sell micheladas but let me tell you the...
Read more(Me: 2 stars. Friend I was buying lunch for: 4 stars = 3 stars). 4/21/21 ~2:30 pm.) Service = 2 stars: Waitress (middle aged Mexican woman) asked about drinks first; I said "Unsweet tea, WITH a lemon, and sweetener" . . just like that. She brought no lemon, put drinks down and walked off. Had to get up and go to counter and ask again for lemons. She came back to take orders: I said "I'd like to start with an appetizer" and she said "Ok what would you like?" and I looked at my friend and said "I'm thinking the bacon wrapped shrimp or the fried alligator" . . he said "I've never had fried alligator" so I said "Ok we'll have the fried alligator then . . been a while since I've had that." She said "Ok, fried alligator". We followed that with our entrees orders. Not long afterwards, she promptly brings the entrees, and I said "Uhh . . what about the fried alligator appetizer?" and she adamantly snapped back "You never said anything about fried alligator!" and I reminded her of the convo I had with my friend, who also acknowledged it, and she still took no responsibility and blamed it on me! Even though she'd already forgotten the lemon . . guess that was my fault too? (must be a republican . .) She was friendly otherwise, and I left a good tip anyway b/c she probably has family to feed, but blaming others when you forget orders, twice-in-a-row nonetheless, is unacceptable. Food: 2 stars for my baked oysters, that were way undercooked and half-baked at best and immediately gave me diarrhea before I could even leave. 4 stars for my friend's fried shrimp, that he had no problem with. He might be going back there, but I...

I used to eat at Capt Benny's every Saturday and at least 2-3 a month during the week. Depending on the location the service is always hit or miss, the 290 location was a 50/50 chance but I always made sure I got the same waitress who was great. Some of the locations are nicer than others, 290 was def one of the newer cleaner restaurants. But no matter which one you go it is very, very casual. The food is good but what I liked was the crab stuffing with the broiled shrimp. I would always get this entrée along with a dozen oysters on the half shell. So the price was always the same...until this past Saturday when I got sticker shock from the bill. The greed of the owner has raised the raw oyster prices to $21.00 a dozen!!!!! This is outrageous to say the least especially for a lower end restaurant like Captain Benny's. I'm a Oyster on the Half Shell fanatic and eat them a min of 5-6 times a week and $21.00 is what fine dining restaurants charge...aka Pappas Steakhouse, McCormick Smick's etc Also, I know it may not be "oyster season" however with oyster farms they are available year round so they myth about months without an "R" has been modernized with new technology. FYI bagged fresh oysters cost a restaurant appx 60 cents each....so for a place like CB to charge $21.00 is just greed. Go to Capt Tom's... $9.99 per dozen! Bye bye Captain Benny's it was good while...
