Last night 2/26 2 of my friends treated me and my wife for dinner here at this restaurant for the first time as I never thought it would be my last because of the terrible service. We ordered 4 different dishes as while I enjoy the crawlfish and crabs.... I thought the service from the place was horrible as the chef cook came out took over the order from the waiter was very strange way, but worst part the seafood fried noodles that was ordered twice mistakes that was brought out to us as combination and soft not pan fry. The panfried noodles were also very salty and none of us were able to eat. When we complained, the waiter said they would take off half price, which I did not agree as it wrong for charging customers when the order was wrong and distasteful. After complained with the manager he ageed to take off the whole price, but the chief cook person came out and raised the price on the crabs $6 dollars more than the price was originally explained per pound. The bottom line is the restaurant management can easily be come dishonest as they try to cheat customers with undisclosed prices on crabs or certain seafood selections and get away with it because the price not clearly on the menu! *So, I already knew likely the restaurant management will respond to this review by accusing the customer like me lie, but the reality is if people look at my review then it clearly showed that I would not have been fair ratings on the 2 dishes that I did LIKE as well as the atmosphere if my intent was lie. My review was only caution people and the management to know the service was not good because the restaurant management careless of any intention to improvement customer relation by being honest of their mistakes and considering clearly display the prices on the manual as it is the best way to avoid any miscommunication! A smart good classy business would reasonably review the negative complaints and try to improve the values of success objectives in the people's business as most often miscommunication is the main reason rather than denial and accusing customer of lying to justify their ego is...
Read moreAte here last night, party of four. I lived in Lafayette for 4 years and know my crawfish. Odd place, somewhat quirky. Food is very good.
We had crawfish (“Mild”, which was a little spicy) and it was excellent. The salt & pepper shrimp was superb, the best salt&pepper dish I’ve ever had. Seafood noodles was ok but nothing special. Shrimp fried rice was ok but disappointing. So, food was good, though the rice and noodle dishes were not even average for Houston.
Now, for the quirks and bad stuff:
Service is extremely spotty. They don’t assign a particular waiter, it’s like a loose team effort. Weird. You have to flag them down. It means you have nobody taking charge to ensure your order is completed. Our salt & pepper shrimp came out 30 min after the rest of the food, which had arrived haphazardly several minutes apart, even though all was ordered at the same time. We were literally done with ALL the rest of the food when it finally came, after asking about its status several times. We were told no less than 5 times that it would be right out, spread out over 20 minutes. Totally unacceptable. And, the restaurant did NOTHING to compensate. Nothing. Other tables had all their food and came in after us. Intentional? I don’t think so, I just think they have a very haphazard system.
They give you plastic forks to eat with, that’s it. No serving spoons (well, one little one among 4 dishes). The thinnest paper napkins and not many. Had to ask for napkins twice and still ran out.
The name of the place is Crawfish &Noodles. You’d think they’d have great noodle dishes, right? We got literally the only noodle dish they have! (Choice of protein.) And, it was very average and not at all interesting.
Strange place. I’d go back for the salt & pepper dishes and the crawfish. Forget the rest and please, management, clean up your act on the disorganization. Add some good noodle dishes and why don’t you have something like a Viet-Cajun étouffée as a stir-fried noodle dish? It’s obvious and would be awesome! An incredibly puzzling missed...
Read moreThis is the first establishment that I will give a perfect rating for Service, atmosphere, food taste and quality. The moment you walk in the door you are greeted with a genuine warm acceptance of someone that wants and values your business. Next after being seated you are attended to genuinely, not the usual ugh I have a customer attitude. The Manager (Van is his name but we'll get to him later) and the servers speak with you as a person and don't rush you along with guiding you through the menu.
The food is top notch. I've had crawfish from all regions of the United States and this thing right here.......FIRE! You will drink the juice and enjoy the work you have to put in but I will assure you it's worth the effort. The noodles and other food are phenomenal too. I knew I was well past my limit but while my body said enough my mind and taste buds said keep going. So of course I did with no regrets!
The entire time I was eating, my throw away bowl slowly filled but was changed before I could blink and the drinks were refilled with a genuine smile.
After dinner the manager came to say hello and asked if i enjoyed my meal. This started a very enjoyable 30 minute conversation about our careers (Information Technology) and other things which I will not mention (what happens in Crawfish & Noodles stays in Crawfish & Noodles) ;)
I was also introduced to the owner of the establishment who again was very appreciative of my patronage.
Another item that I think needs an honorable mention is every year from July 9th - August 23rd the restaurant is closed. One would ask why so let le tell you. To my surprise the restaurant closes so the staff which are all college students can have a summer break. Nothing more needs said about this except pay attention America. That's what you call employees 1st.
To bring this to a close I had the best experience someone could possibly have at a restaurant that you could...
