Denny's is great. I Love Denny's. I go to them in dozens cities as they're a reliably well priced and decent chain. So I went to this one next to our motel while in a trip to explore Houston...
Walking in I saw three employees talking to each other who didn't acknowledge me for 1-2 minutes. We were then asked if a table was OKay, as opposed to a booth, and I replied that I would prefer a booth, and there were about a dozen empty ones at the time... But none of them were clean. I could see a bunch of tables with dishes on them, messy tables, cups, whatever. When we sat down at our "freshly cleaned" (partially wiped down with a rag) I noticed almost the same amount of employees talking in a group as there were dirty tables. Now, this was relatively late on a week night, and I can understand wanting to take it easy at work.... But really? Could you not chat after cleaning the tables?
Later when a waiter came over to take our order he got or drink order and then came back with them in a reasonable amount of time... And then walked off. He didn't say he'll be right back to take our orders or anything. It's been about 6-10 minutes since sitting down and so when we got our drinks we were ready to order. I asked if we could place our order and he told me that he'd be back.
He did come back and we ordered, he was quiet though and kinda hard to understand, but we got our order placed. The waiter later came back to tell me that they didn't have the side I wanted, and if I'd like a different one, sure, no problem (Foreshadowing).
Our food came and it was all correct and tasted good- yay. At this point some of the other tables had even been cleaned. We couldn't eat it right away because there was no flatware at the table, but it was brought promptly. My food was brought without my side and I was told it was getting ready now, it was reordered a bit after my original order so that was reasonable.
When I was pretty much finished eating my waiter came back and said something about my side not being able to be ordered because he needed the manager card to change it... Which seems kinda dumb, I mean, it was just fries instead of an apple. Whenever, I thought it was getting fixed.
Nope. It wasn't. He came over later to say something which I didn't understand at all, but I never got any side.
My son decided he wanted Denny's for dinner again today, and I reminded him of the experience yesterday. (I started this review as a 2 star one). I was not planning on going back into this restaurant, it was unclean enough the first time. But he wanted it so we ordered online.
He returned with the online order as I was writing this and it lost a star. They forgot half my food. They only gave him the drink after he asked for it, because they forgot that, too.
Overall, I'm disappointed at the Denny's brand for allowing this. The managers need to step up their leadership and not allow this laziness from their employees. The employees need to take a look at their service and understand that people who go to a restaurant expect things- clean tables, correctly ordered food, promptness. I would be happy to speak to anybody from Denny's about my experience here to help them improve from my point of view.
I'm thankful that this isn't my local Denny's or I'd switch to IHOP or Shutters...
Read moreGrossest story your about to hear all week... So today we decided to have a peaceful brunch at home & ordered some of our favorites from Dennys. The app doesn't give you the option to add utensils or sauces or memo for this particular restaurant so I made sure to call and speak with someone about making sure we had plastic forks and napkins. First they transferred me to the wrong location but the lady assured me that Dennys always puts all the condiments and plastic utensils without asking so I got happy but still phoned the right location just to be sure. The lady who answered also very polite said she would let them know about the sauces, napkins and plastic wear. The stuff gets delivered and wasn't even taped at the top with a sticker. The woman that brought my order went the long way around to bring it but even worse it had so many things wrong with it. The order was $83+ so I'm expecting it to be worth it. My driver says the restaurant told her they substituted 2 items but really what she meant was they didn't have 2 items the ranch dressing and the blue cheese for the Buffalo hot wings. Awww man that was the first mistake they didn't send any sauce for the wings! They didn't substitute and they had other sauces. Marinara sauce for them dry over cooked greasy mozzarella sticks ...never order those to go they were so hard and greasy and cold. Then there was no plastic forks we almost had to go cave man in here to eat . I had rolled up my pancake like a taco just so I could get to business. Ain't no reason I should be dipping my pancake burrito in my syrup come on now. THEN someone owe me a hash brown skip to the part they were so hard and over cooked. Take a look at the bacon they gave me the cook at the other half of my bacon. So my husband is eating and he said come over here and look and it was 2 HAIRS in his box under his burger and he had been eating the burger so he starts to gag up the burger he was chewing and then I start to gag up the pancake we both didn't order drinks so we about fall out...then he just throws the burger in the box and said we won't ever order from this location again in our life. And whoever shaved their arm pits over the to go boxes ya mammy is a heaux. This was the worst brunch not only in the history of my brunches but all brunches. Now I just feel the need to scrub my tongue and possibly vomit I'm not sure. So this location is living up to all of the ONE STAR reviews. I definitely won't suggest anyone coming here or ordering uber eats from here. Don't say you haven't been warned so unless you want someone's pubes in your burger I'd keep on driving, scrolling or going but...
Read moreIt was late, and I was hungry. IHOP was on my mind as the portions are more significant for the same or less money spent. The food was not okay. I ordered a glass of water without ice, and a pick four sampler with buffalo & Nashville flavoured wings, seasoned fries, and mozzarella cheese sticks. I highly appreciated the Nashville flavoured wings. It is an excellent and spicy flavour that was not overtaken by vinegar at all. Coupled with ranch dressing made it that much more delectable. The seasoned fries were lacking in flavour that could not be made up for with a condiment, The buffalo wings had too much vinegar, and the mozzarella cheese sticks were lacking as well. The marinara sauce was definitely missing something, as it usually is. The ranch could have probably used some salt. I did not use the catsup as I was only given a handful of packets instead of a bottle. Covid does not scare me, but if it did, I would have been freaking out and forced to be out of my mind with the thought of who all had touched those things. A bottle is just so much easier, and it seems that if that is a usual practice of theirs, they're possibly only concerned with money rather than thinking about the customer. It took way too long for the food to come off the line and make its way to my table. There was a table of five that ordered their food about the same time that I did. They received their food first. From my own experience of working in a restaurant, my food should have been cooked as their food was being made so that I was not kept waiting for as long as I was. My food should have also been hotter. It was a very chilled night out, and it was too cold in the restaurant. I enjoyed my glass of water, ate my food, tipped my waitress, paid for my meal and left. I will never return to that particular restaurant. Unsure if I will ever return to any...
