I recently had the opportunity to try GAVI, a restaurant located in the Houston International Airport. While it's not something I do often, I couldn't resist exploring this dining option. GAVI boasts ample seating and charging ports for weary travelers, which is a definite plus.
First impressions count, and the staff at GAVI left a positive one. They were exceptionally friendly and accommodating, creating a welcoming atmosphere. The tantalizing aroma wafting from the kitchen added to the anticipation of a satisfying meal.
When it comes to the food itself, GAVI offers generous portions. I appreciated the fact that they don't skimp on serving sizes, especially in an airport setting where hunger can strike unexpectedly. However, taste is the ultimate determining factor, and unfortunately, it fell short of my expectations.
While some aspects of the meal were commendable, such as the perfectly cooked potatoes and over medium eggs, there were a few noticeable shortcomings. The bacon was slightly overcooked, which affected its texture and flavor. The combination of these factors left me with a sense that the food was just average.
Considering everything, my overall experience at GAVI was okay. The staff was friendly, the ambiance was comfortable, and the portion sizes were generous. However, the taste of the food left something to be desired. For this reason, I may opt to explore other dining options during my next visit to the airport.
On a scale of 1 to 5, I would rate GAVI a 3.5. While it may not be a standout restaurant, it still provides a decent choice for those seeking a quick bite or a place to relax before...
Read moreAwful. My partner and I decided to have a cocktail before our trip to New Orleans on Friday Oct 29, 2023. We stopped here to order two bloody mary's which are about $20.00 each not including tip. So we tip $2.00 each cocktail as I remember. So about 5 mins later, the drinks come. They are fairly small and the glasses aren't rimmed with salt as usually bloody mary's are. So I motioned the bartender over and I mentioned can we have the glass rimmed with salt? Boy, what a freaking attitude the "bar tender" had. Tall black guy with dreadlocks starts like giving us a bad attitude something to the effect like "You didn't specify you wanted salt, when you ordered on the app!" He was all indignant and said he wasn't going to remake the drink basically saying, "Oh you want me to remake the drink? How am I going to remake the drink? I'm not pouring new alcohol and with a clean glass with salt."
Dude, you're a bar tender, and you're not tending to the bar.
Just a bad attitude and didn't want to help us and he walked away. So luckily another bar tender was around and I motioned for him to come over and calmly asked him to remake the drink with salt, he hedged a little bit but he remade the drinks with salt and they were OK.
The black guy with dreadlocks? As we were leaving he sat on the other side of the bar playing with his phone like he didn't care at all. Like what kind of stupid horrible bar and bartender was this? Left a really bad taste in our mouths and in our minds as we left and enjoyed a great weekend in New Orleans where any bartender will put salt on your bloody mary's.
Won't be...
Read moreToday, May 8th 2019 at 6:30am an employee, a woman with short hair at this restaurant woke up me, my daughter and another couple who were resting on the benches, in a very rude way telling us that her restaurant needed the seats for their customers. She also told us that those seats were not for resting and sleep, but even though that gentleman had a late dinner there, and we also paid the services and food and had to stayed due to severe storms that caused about 100 flights to be canceled and everybody had to stay all night tired until the next flights. It is very sad how everything is about money and consuming , and there is no human compassion for others. She raised her voice and was extremely rude. I feel I was treated like a homeless person. I will never spend a dollar in this restaurant again in my life. The lack of training and customer service etiquette that this lady displayed and made us feel is absolutely not acceptable for a manager or someone who has to deal with customers. Delays and cancellations happen often at airports, and if this is show she treats all the customers, you won't be in business...
