Texas bbq Q smokehouse - (order number 9668) I witnessed the staff named Johnson used gloved hands to pick up garbage that he stepped on off the floor and he used the same gloves to touch and handled food ( beef brisket) directly with the same gloves and served them into take out box. All was done in front of customers (me), I gave him a chance to rectify this but he carried on to serve me this box of contaminated food. The moment he presented me with that take out box, I told him I work as a nurse and I saw him picked off garbage and with those same gloves he picked up the beef briskets. He knew exactly what I meant as he immediately took off his gloves and threw them in the garbage.
Failing food safe 101, unhygienic practice. He only put aside the take out when I confronted him, otherwise, that contaminated food will still be served to me or any other customer whom paid $28 usd for this beef brisket meal. He also wore those same gloves moving parcel boxes off the floor and putting those parcel boxes on top of chopping boards on the counter. The chopping boards have knives resting on top of them.
If the staff can ignore food safe protocols even when customers are there in front of them, you know very well what can happen when you are not watching.
Would not...
Read moreThe brisket sandwich was good and overpriced, but I never got to try the fries I ordered bc they completely forgot them and ignored me. They have 2 cooks who don't want to be there, so literally will walk away from their stations and wander around the airport for a few minutes (I'm not sure why, but maybe their going out to butcher the animals you're about to eat) and then come back to finish your order, that's if they don't get stopped by some other workers from another restaurant to chat and gossip. Unsanitary as you have no clue where they went or what they touched before returning to their stations to finish your food. They did this routine more than once, which is why it took over 20min to get a brisket sandwich. The meat is already smoked...so it took that long to put a scoop of meat on a bun with a few drops of BBQ sauce. The guy who seemed like he was in charge just watched them leave with a stern face but failed to do anything about it. Night of June 12 staff needs to get their act together or leave their stations...
Read moreIn my reviews I try and take into account time and place. If I eat BBQ at an airport...that's on me. However the quality of airport food has gone up several notches. This visit to Q Texas BBQ certainly does not reflect that. I must say the decor, space itself and ambience is quite nice. Very new and enticing. The food however was...meh. Had the brisket plate. The brisket had great eye appeal and decent flavor for airport brisket. It fell apart from there. The Texas "toast" was just a slightly warmed piece of bread. They ran it through a toaster but it certainly didn't do it's job and no butter. Really disappointing. Had the green bean side. It was inedible, just mush. The potato salad, on the other hand, was the best item on my plate. Service has disinterested at best. I was about the only person there and it took a solid 10 minutes to get my food. No urgency of any kind. Can't imagine if they were busy or I happened to be in a hurry. Just looking at the place (very, very nice eye appeal) expected way more...all...
