JJ Garden was just about a decent experience and it looks nicer from the outside. When you walk inside, you walk straight through the majority of the tables on the way to the register. This isn't necessarily a bad thing but it does inhibit the space of others eating. The menu is put well together and is priced appropriately and so I'll award credit for that. I ordered the Tangy and Spicy Chicken, and it was that, but the taste was faint and at least to me it was not spicy. With that entrée comes both a soup and a egg roll or spring roll. I got the hot and sour soup and a spring roll. The soup was not watery but it also wasn't the most flavorful, and so as a result I'll dub it a "solid" soup. The spring roll was better than the soup and I would also describe it as solid, but it's also very basic and I could call it mass produced. In regards to the food I might be a bit biased, but this is still just an opinion. The last note I'll add is on the service. The food came out within 10ish minutes of being order and was hot.

All and all, I'd recommend this only to those residing near it and those looking for a quick and...

I hope the restaurant takes this criticism positively. It is so sad that one very rude/disrespectful lady (with glasses) at the front desk has ruined the reputation of this restaurant in our lucrative Bellaire city area. We have been to this restaurant for 3 years now ever since we moved to the neighborhood. The food is good even though the price is higher than regular Chinese restaurants around here. We did tons of reviews (almost all 5-star positive reviews, except 1). This is the first time we ever gave 2 stars. To be successful in this wonderful country, restaurant employees/owners should learn one basic bussiness management, to respect the customers. Every single question we asked her, she responded very impolitely with a strong facial attitude and an eye roll as if we burdened her although the restaurant only had "2 people dine in around 7pm on Friday night". We have never witnessed any person as rude as her in any restaurants we have been to. If she were to continue to work there or do this, there would be no one there. Sorry, no customers, ...

The food was excellent but I was not impressed with the experience. The restaurant had a nice seating area with booths and tables. There was a register at the back and a sign that said “order here”. It looked more like it was set up for take out. We weren’t greeted by the person who worked there, even thought they were right in front of us. We finally realized that we did need to go to the register to order, got a menu, placed our order and paid. I was directed to a counter to get my water and saw that there were also utensils so I grabbed some. Our soup was brought our table, quickly followed by the main course. I asked about duck sauce and was again directed to the counter where the the water and utensils were kept, this time on the top shelf. We ordered Happy Family and Garlic Chicken with Eggplant and upsized for $3 each to get soup, egg roll and rice. The food was very tasty and hot but I thought it was pricy considering the lack of ambience...

They are open for dining in and we enjoyed a couple lunch specials. My wife had the happy family with beef, chicken and shrimp, it was loaded with veggies. I went with the General Tso's chicken and it was spicy so sharing wasn't an option since my wife doesn't like much spice, I loved it. We both enjoyed our choice of wonton soup, and an egg roll. We've ordered delivery from here and really loved it so it was a no brainer to visit, glad we did, we have a new favorite in the immediate area.
