I flew all the way from Chicago to Houston in search of authentic Nigerian Abula and Egusi soup—and I was not disappointed.
This spot came highly recommended by a friend, so my boyfriend and I visited on a Saturday afternoon. At first, I was a bit uneasy because the restaurant was empty. But then, the woman at the front desk came over and sat with us. She spoke in a warm, motherly tone, asking about us and helping with our order. Her kindness immediately put us at ease.
While we waited, we snacked on puff puff and meat pie—both fresh and delicious. When the fufu and amala arrived, it was steaming hot and full of flavor. The meat was tender, the soups perfectly seasoned, and everything tasted homemade with care.
The experience didn’t stop at the food. Her customer service was absolutely top-tier—she even brought my boyfriend hot water with lemon when she heard his throat was sore. Her hospitality made us feel truly welcome, like we were guests in her home.
Nigerian restaurants don’t always have the best reputation for customer service, but this woman set a new standard. Between the food, the atmosphere, and the genuine warmth, this was easily a five-star experience—and then some. I even ordered extra to-go for my friends, who loved it...
Read moreDuring my recent visit to Kofoshi Nigerian Restaurant in Houston, I was thoroughly impressed by the authentic culinary experience. As a Nigerian, I can attest to the genuineness of the dishes, which transported me back to the flavors of home. The Jollof Rice was particularly outstanding, capturing the perfect blend of spices and rich tomato essence.
I introduced a friend, unfamiliar with Nigerian cuisine, to this establishment, and we were both warmly welcomed. The staff’s attentiveness was remarkable; they checked on us throughout our meal to ensure our satisfaction and comfort.
The portions were generous, offering more than we could finish, and the pricing was reasonable, reflecting excellent value for the quality and quantity provided.
The ambiance was inviting, and the menu offered a diverse selection of traditional dishes. My friend had egusi soup for the first time and immediately fell in love.
Overall, Kofoshi Nigerian Restaurant delivers an authentic and memorable dining experience. I highly recommend it to both Nigerians seeking a taste of home and to newcomers eager to explore the rich flavors of...
Read moreMy husband and I decided to try this restaurant today based on TikTok we saw plus the location is a short distance from us. First of all the man who attended to us when we got there was polite. He answered all the questions we had and helped us in placing our order. We ordered Abula with Amala, Amala and Egusi and ewa agoyin with plantain.
The wait was ok. I could understand that they were busy packing a number of to go orders and we got ours in time, checked it and left. The odd thing was the lady who also came out to verify the orders and pack them. She kept addressing and acknowledging m husband as if I was not there. She did the same when taking the payment which I paid and I tapped and she just walked away.
My husband noticed it too but just said to leave it because he can’t understand either. Anyway the food was ok but not for the price point. The Amala and Egusi was good. The abula not so much to my preference. The ewa agoyin was sweet but it’s ok. Will I be ordering here again. No. Let this not dissuade you from ordering here. You might like the food. This is just...
