The place looked old but it was clean-ish. The service wasn't the best but it was there. It seems like this place has been in business for a long time. The ceviche was decent, the cheesecake came from a box and was ordered so it wasn't that great. I got a lemonade to drink and there were no refills on it, supposedly it was fresh made. The sweet tea must have been all right because my dad drink about six glasses of it. I also ordered a dozen oysters, they weren't that big, they weren't awesome, but they were good and they were well priced at about $9 for a dozen. I would have liked to has tried more items that they had on the menu but I wasn't trying to spend any more money. They do have alcohol and not just beer, they have liquor as well although I did not try any of the alcoholic beverages they offer there. They had, it seemed like, signs up for stuff that happened 6 months ago in the restaurant... like, it said that the upstairs was closed until October and it is May. They also had fresh seafood on display there when you walk in the door and that looks good although I have not tasted it. It reminded me of a place that I used to go, Mama's Cafe that used to be on Westheimer. It seemed like it had the same aura, saying that they have been there a long time, they serve good food, they have decent prices but the...
Read moreTerrible experience here. Ordered 2 Michaeldas, Aguachiles and Camarones al diabla. The Michaeldas were disgusting!! My husband and I were unable to drink them. They smelled and tasted like when the Clamato is expired. We let the waitress know but all she said was its not made with Clamato. I dont know what this was made with but either way it was expired and disgusting. We still had to pay for these disgusting beverages that we did not even drink. This made me the most upset with this restaurant because I dont think it's right to have to pay for beverages that are unsafe for consumption that weren't even drank. The waitress should have taken these drinks back and corrected the issue. The Camarones al diabla were small and did not have a good sauce. Was not even a little bit spicy. The sauce tasted like chili gravy that tex mex restaurants put on cheese enchiladas. The aguachiles weren't great either. Weren't very flavorful. Lastly the service sucked. Food took a while to come out and the waitress was slow. She never seemed to be around when we needed her. About $50 later, I feel like I wasted my time and money eating in this restaurant. I have no plans to return here and suggest others dont waste their...
Read moreSolid Mexican seafood restaurant! Went here for lunch with my friend on a hot Houston day, after a workout, and we ordered the shrimp cocktail and the tuna salad. The shrimp cocktail was so incredibly refreshing, with the right amount of sweet and umami (savory) flavors, as well as the perfect temperature. It really hit the spot given the intense heat outside. The tuna salad was just as refreshing. I would recommend asking for Salsa de Valentina (a hot sauce) and splashing some on top of the tuna over a cracker. Both of these options were really light yet satisfying. They also give you chips and salsa while you wait. Both of these were rich in taste, so while we tried not to indulge too much, it was definitely a challenge.
The restaurant itself has a lot of charm to it, with various sea-esque decorations all around. If you run out of talking points, there's always an endless supply of commentary on the wall decor.
The food is reasonably priced and the service is on the quicker side. 10/10 would recommend.
I definitely look forward to coming back and trying other items...
