We really enjoyed our visit at Meo Bar! The atmosphere was fantastic, with decorative walls and a candle light on the table. The secret door was a great idea and it really gave a fun vibe to the place. We visited during the happy hours and we ordered three appetizers— fried okra, spicy rice rolls, and shrimp skewers. The spicy rice rolls and shrimp skewers were delicious. The sauce that came with the shrimp was really tasty, and we loved the spicy rice rolls. It could become a really good drinking snack. We were fine with the okra, something about the sauce we were just not a fan of.
For entrees we ordered the crispy pork belly and the pork belly fried rice. We really loved the fried rice, the flavor was there, the pork belly in the fried rice was tender. It was coated in a tangy savory sauce, and we thought it might be yummier than the crispy pork belly entree. The crispy pork belly was okay.
The drinks though, were probably our favorite items of the night. Highly recommend the pandam. It came in a cute cat cup. The toasted rice milk really popped up and went well with the coconut cream and citrus flavors infused into the rum. You got a small hint of pandan at the end. We also got the lychee to the limit from the HH menu, which was surprisingly not too sweet and, heavily spiced. Unlike other lychee cocktails you usually have from...
Read moreMèo Bar, which stands for cat bar, is a speakeasy located in an unassuming Chinese restaurant named the Wokker.
Once inside, you lift the cat portrait and ring the bell, and a bartender will open the door for you.
The inside is a bit small but has many seats and a dj, as well. Their menu had a lot of Asian-inspired drinks. As a Viet person and pandan enthusiast, I had to get the Pandamonium, which consisted of rum, pandan, vanilla, and banana caramel syrup-clarified milk punch. I also got the Salty Kitty , which contained salted plum-Infused vodka, orange bourbon tincture, turbinado, lemon, and egg white, and a lychee cocktail.
The Panamonium was my favorite. It was smooth and not too strong and tasted like a cucumber drink with a slight pandan smell and after taste. The Salty Kitty had foam on top made from the egg whites, and it was strong with a salty and sour taste. The lychee cocktail was so cute and came with a piece of lychee candy. However, I do wish that they put actual piece of lychee, too.
I went on a Thursday, and it was pretty busy but not too crowded, and I think it’s a great place to bring a group of friends. They also have a few mocktails and food, too!
Overall, I really enjoyed their unique drink flavors and...
Read more…pretty disappointing experience. Hidden speakeasy inside Wokker. When we ring the bell - nobody opened the door - we had to wait until some customer left and opened the door. The interior and atmosphere is pretty “trippy”. The lights and the music let you feel a bit like on mushrooms. Fun but also very simple…this is not an upscale place at all. The worst thing about this bar are the drinks. The Yule old fashioned had a very weird taste and it was so bad that I couldn’t even finish half of it. Also the Meo Gin Tonic had strange aftertaste and was overall not a tasty gin tonic at all. I also cannot recommend kimchi dumplings - the kimchi is not a real kimchi. It was more like some poorly marinated cabbage. The dumpling filling...
