The food was okay here at this establishment. This establishment shares parking with several other businesses in the retail center. When I ordered my food, it took quite a bit of time for it to be done because they have older chefs that are cooking. They do have another older individual managing the cashier section. Some of the food items were sold out by the time I got there which was around 2:00 and I was surprised that food was sold out very early. I went on ahead and purchased another item from their menu. I ordered the oxtails in which the oxtails were tender but not as tender as I thought they would be falling off the bone. The side dishes were just okay. I had ordered the greens in upon the first taste of the greens, I knew they were immediately canned. They had a canned taste to it and it did not have enough seasoning in those greens. The rice was good you can't mess up rice in an establishment. The cornbread pieces was very small and I was really surprised by the size of the cornbread being offered. Now this establishment has gotten to the point where they were asking customers to pay with cash instead of paying with a debit or credit card. They did not feel comfortable with processing any debit or credit card transactions and wanted customers to pay with cash. I didn't mind because I did have the cash available on hand however, I'm not sure if I would return back to this establishment because it has been outdated. Oftentimes, I don't carry cash and if I do go to this location again, I will need to have...
Read moreThis review addresses food taste and service at MAMA'S OVEN. There was nothing outstanding or memorable about the food. I ordered the oxtails, rice without gravy (because I saw how the server totally saturated the rice), pinto beans, greens, and cornbread. The oxtails were tender, but without much flavor. The gravy tasted of flour. The greens came straight out of the can as well as the pinto beans. There was an attempt to flavor both greens and pinto beans but both still had that taste from a can. The greens had that can taste and the pinto beams were really salty with the can taste. The cornbread was good but on sweet side. The service was poor had to wait 30 minutes after placing order for food. Bus boy removed plates from table left cup, dirty napkins and corn kennels on table. Asked personnel to finish job and seemed as if I was asking to much.I watched 5 different customers leave after placing orders and standing in 20 minutes or more before leaving. The food and services I revolved was not worth $37.00. That was 2 of the exact sa me orders one with coke and one...
Read moreThis little place was recommended to us for oxtail by a young lady in the V.A. We were greeted and our order taken right away. The food took 15 or 20 minutes to come out and it was outstanding. My smothered pork chops were fork tender, the gravy had a little kick, the rice was cooked well, and the yams were outstanding. His oxtail was tender and lots of it. The dirty rice was nice and the green beans weren't smushy. He was jealous of my yams though. The cornbread was just the tiniest bit sweet and soaked up that gravy just fine. The lemonade was good and tart while the sweet tea had lemon! The servings of everything were generous. The store was clean and well lit. The chairs had padding which was nice. The whole place has a "mama's table" feel to it. I'm almost positive my granny had this table set. I watched them gift a young man a large order of rice as they didn't accept apple pay. They didn't fuss or scold him just sent him on his way with a smile and a blessing. Overall worth every single penny. Bring your momma and granny for the food their mommas and...
