If I could give it 10 Stars, I would! I really don't understand some of the reviews people leave. It just goes to show that some people just can't be pleased. THIS PLACE IS NOT TEX-MEX. These are authentic MEXICAN recipes. This restaurant is not chips and salsa and queso. Get over it. And, although you are entitled to your opinion, if you don't like a particular menu item, maybe try SOMETHING ELSE before you leave a negative review.
Now, I started eating here like 5 years ago, and I seriously dream about the food. The flavors are AMAZING. You MUST try the Cream of Poblano soup. It is thick, creamy, and spicy and is served with shredded white cheese on top, and crispy tortillas strips on the side. Fantastic. Spicy and full of flavor. Try the Tacos de Pibil ($4.50)...spicy shredded chicken on top of grilled corn tortillas with pickled red onions and cilantro, and comes with a side of black charro beans...Delicious. The black charro beans are so flavorful my mouth is watering just writing this review. They have a robust flavor with big hints of chorizo although there are not chunks of chorizo to be found...just delicious perfectly cooked beans in a soupy broth. The Alambres (I get chicken) are perfectly cooked with a mix of onions, peppers, ham, and butter, although I add pico and cheese to mine...PERFECT. The tortas are also fantastic although you kind of have to find the right one for you. (The reviewer that complained about there being hot dogs on his torta....WHY DID YOU ORDER IT?) There are about 20-30 tortas to choose from, so you have to find the one that appeals to you, although I haven't had a bad one yet. One thing that totally keeps me coming back is the Salsa Verde (green salsa). I could drink it straight out of the bottle....green tomatillos with avocado, cilantro, onions, and jalapenos, and whatever CRACK they must put in it is unforgettable. The breakfast is also really good if you like items with eggs. I like the Huevos a la Mexicana or Chilaquiles.
Whatever you order, they are very generous with their portions...if you order something, there is always a side of charro beans or some kind of soup with it. And you cannot beat their prices. I stopped eating at the taco trucks and fast food, because Mexico's Deli's food is WAY better and is actually cheaper if you can believe that; and the quality of food is better by far.
I'm not sure why people complain about the service. You don't have a waiter. It's a small place (and it's very busy) where you order at the front counter and sit down until your food arrives. Yes, some people get their food before others depending on WHAT YOU ORDER. Soup comes out faster than grilled items, people!
I hope you'll try this place. It is run by the original owner's two young daughters now. Unfortunately, their father passed away in an accident at his home in 2014. He was a wonderful guy and his recipes are fantastic. Try the Cream of Poblano...

Right in the middle of a typical strip mall on Dairy Ashford, you will drive by it if you were not actively looking since the sign for the restaurant is kind of blended in. Once you step foot into the establishment, it will first give you a hole-in-the-wall feel, but don't let that discourage you because there's so many tortas for you to choose from, it will make you come back to try each and every one of them.
You order at the counter and they will deliver the food to your table, choose from any of the tortas, burritos, tacos, or the specials. Most of the time I will always get a torta as most of them are only $7 and it comes with a small bowl of soup and pickled vegetables. A fair warning, the torta is pretty big and I always just finish one half of the torta and save the other half for dinner. They also have fountain sodas, coffee, and agua frescas. The agua frescas are random every day but most of the time they will have horchata as one of the selection.
I have tried many of their tortas and I have not had a bad one yet. There are some tortas that's $8 but with better ingredients, and it taste really, really delicious. One of my favorite $8 torta is the Lomito Argentino, the eggs makes a difference in a sandwich. Seriously, the price for the quality and the quantity of the food is just unreal. Oh, and they also give you a red salsa or green salsa and both are really good salsa to dab it on your torta.
This place is really close to where I work and when I feel hungry and want to feel pretty satisfied of eating good torta, I will always come to Mexico's...
Read moreFirst, the good stuff: I got 3 tacos, and they were really good, 1 bistec, 1 carne and 1 chicken, on corn tortillas with onion, cilantro and green sauce, with a side of black beans. Totally yummy, meats tasted great, food was hot, all good. So why only 2 stars? I went during Thursday lunch, and ordered to go. I placed my order at 12:22. My order was handed to me at 12:41. 19 minutes. Nineteen. Minutes. Now, you might say, "hey, that's during the lunch rush." My reply would be "I'm not an idiot." I worked in the restaurant industry for 16 years, and sorry, I know the difference between food PREP and food ASSEMBLY. Food prep is done in the morning, where the ingredients are cooked, chopped and placed in containers so they can be instantly accessed. Now, not all foods are like that (a rack of ribs or a steak, for example, would have to be taken raw, then cooked and served only when ordered;) tacos are NOT like that- they are the TEXTBOOK example of an item that is ASSEMBLED from PREPPED ingredients. That order should've taken, at most 7 minutes, and 5 is more like it, and trust me, if anyone working there is reading this, they KNOW that. The other problem was, when I walked in, there it was, slapping you in the face- that famous "dirty drain smell" that smells like a combination of mold, rotten food and ass- usually caused by either a) management that doesn't care, or b) a protracted fight between the restaurant owners and their landlord, who refuses to pay for a plumber to come and...
