I love the live piano that you can sing with. They will even give you the mike.
I have been coming here for a long time but it, like everything else, has changed. There is a drag show but I'm really not into them so I can't tell you about their quality. The bar is not well stocked with liquor meaning they have fewer shelf liquors to choose from so don't come in and order your favorite purple nurple drink. Chances are they wont have what it takes to make it. There is no blender and no machines for specialty drinks but if you want a rum or bourbon with coke or vodka with cranberry you've come to the right place.
It's a true to heart neighborhood bar. There is a happy hour but no drink specials of any kind at all ever! I cant emphasize that enough. There are great people, usually an older crowd, 50- 85 with a sprinkle of younger ones, like me at 45. You can still have a conversation over what's going on so not too loud either.
There are many tables and chairs, both high and low, as well as a lengthy bar with plenty of stools. You may see a few people playing pool at one of the two pool tables. They used to sponsor and be on the local tournament circuit but have long sice abandoned that. Also a modern jute box adorns the wall. The old one was crushed several years ago as an 80yo patron ran through the wall thinking he put his car into reverse but put it in drive instead. Thank goodness no one was injured but he was wearing his favorite summertime ladies hat with the tag still on like Mini Pearl. Yes, he talked to the police like that and no he didn't go to jail.
In closing I say give it a try you never know. You may just find it suits you and find that diamond in the rough you've been searching for. Oh, I forgot to mention that every Wednesday night at 8:30 they host a pot luck with some very talented home cooks and some professionally trained bringing entrees, souos and desserts. Bring something from the store. I promise no...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreMichaelās was exactly what I didnāt know I was looking for. Iām new to the city and wanted a spot with a chill vibe, a little energy, and interesting peopleāand this place absolutely nailed it. It really does feel like one of those āwhere everybody knows your nameā bars, even though thatās the biggest clichĆ© ever. I honestly didnāt think a place like that still existed, but here we are.
Itās sweet that itās a piano bar, and even sweeter that they serve real cocktails in real glasses every day. The crowd is usually mature, relaxed, and easygoing, with the occasional wild cardāwhich honestly just adds character. Between the solid happy hour and the great location, Iām shocked itās not packed every night.
Iām genuinely grateful I found this place. Iāll keep coming back as long as the...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreMichael's is a nice, low-key environment that has a lot of events throughout the week. There's a drag show, karaoke night, weekly dinners, etc. It's a nice place to go outside of event hours if you want to hang out without having to see a lot of people and need a quiet space. The drinks are good and inexpensive and the regulars are very friendly. My one complaint is how busy the bar gets during events and how long it takes to get a drink, as there's usually only one bartender behind the bar. It's not a regular issue, though, which makes...
