Tex-Mex is a hard cuisine to elevate or turn upscale. But Ninfa's does it better than anyone. I'll give the quick overview.
Service? Absolutely on point. We had a great waiter who got our requests perfect. Neither of us ran out of tea and the chips were refilled. Our waiter was even thoughtful enough to offer to-go cartons.
Food? Overall, excellent, but with some room for improvement. I had the tacos al carbon. The beef and chicken were both grilled to perfection, although the chicken could've benefitted from a touch more seasoning. The tortillas were good as well. The queso that came with my dinner was good, but I've had better. And I definitely wasn't a fan of the rice, which was more like a saffron rice with peas than the more classic Spanish rice. The chips were good, but the salsa's consistency was different than the usual salsa and didn't have much of a kick to it.
All in all, if you want grilled Mexican food in a more upscale environment, Ninfa's does the trick. The rest of the Tex-Mex experience could use a bit more...
Read moreNot what I expected from a ninfas. We ordered the $70 parillada and it came out in the classic fajita pan and slightly bubbling. After tasting the food it made me realize the fajita, pork, shrimps, etc were definitely precooked from the morning and maybe put under a steamer. All had a rubbery consistency and nothing in the platter had the charred crust from the grill although it had the grilled marks. The shrimps also had no seasoning and looked like it was boiled in salt water. Lastly the carnitas looked like a dried pork chop. I’ve been to Ninfa’s on Navigation and I don’t think they would serve a platter like this. Overall, disappointed in the food since it was a $70 plate. I really don’t see what people are a fan of here. All in all, no where...
Read moreIt's been many years since we've been to Nina's, my girlfriend said she wasn't a big fan before but we decided to give it a try since we like El Tiempo so much. Starting with the chips and salsa, not a fan of the red sauce, we decided on fajitas for two, fajita meat was tender but so bland, had no seasoning at all. Tortillas were good. Service was not so great, my girlfriend finished her water and mine and was only offered a refill when we asked for our check. The people next to us never were served their chips and salsa. We were extremely disappointed and will probably not return. There is way better Mexican food places to go, especially for the prices. Ninfas is way over priced for not good food. Well until next time signing...
