I’m a student, and I live near Slowpokes so I come regularly to study before going home to unwind after classes. The customer service has gone downhill. The smiling faces that were once eager to help customers, have turned into new very unkempt looking, badly mannered customer service staff who have no respect for customer service and don’t understand that charisma is important in business. I was asked to leave because “I hadn’t bought anything within an hour of being there”
There were several customers around who had been there longer, with outside cups and were not pressured to order anything; just enjoying the environment but for some reason the young lady at the register had the audacity to target me publicly, insult me and attempt to remove me and my classmate. We were quietly talking and sharing how we both got our answers after completing our timed assignment and had every intent of ordering something as I do frequently whether I sit in to take advantage of the two hours of wifi that I pay for or not. I feel insulted and profiled.
Response: Your employees lied to you. I actually didn’t come in with outside food, If you look at the camera I actually disposed my waste upon entry minus the Chik fil a cup of ice which I could’ve just as easily disposed as your establishment offers free ice and water.
Over the past two years that I’ve been coming to Slowpokes I have never been to Slowpokes to just use wifi. EVER. Not to mention, I asked once. He said I’d have to purchase something so I prioritized my assignment. After which I would’ve rewarded myself with a treat had I not been rudely harassed by your employee. I love Slowpokes but for you to justify this behavior is very unsettling to me. Needless to say I’ve been a loyal customer for the past two years and will not be returning and I will definitely spread...
Read moreI live in the apartments right next to Slowpolks. I use Uber Eats Pick Up frequently. It makes it easier to order and pick up on your way, especially when you have a busy schedule. The first time I used Uber Eats to pick up at Slowpokes, when the app let me know the order was ready, I went to Slowpokes. When I got there, the staff was completely confused about even having an Uber order. First they told me it's probably at another store. Then when they realize they have the order, I was told to just wait and they'd have it prepared for me. I had to wait for them to make several in person orders before making my drinks and had to wait another 10 mins to even get my food out, which they made as Dine In order. Two separate meals!
Today is the second time that I have used Uber Eats to place an order, remembering my experience last time. I waited another 5 mins to go pick up, hoping the order would be finished. Took about 3 mins to get there and of course. The front of house staff didn't know there was an Uber Pick Up order. I was told to get in line and let them know I placed an Uber Pick Up order, then they will make it.
I do not know why this company even uses Uber Eats if they are unable to execute Pick Up order properly.
Before writing my review, I looked to see if there were similar reviews. Even a year ago, there were several of the same types of reviews. One even got a response from Slowpokes saying they take Uber Eats, ToGo & Delivery orders seriously!
Honestly, it doesn't seem like it at all!
I've managed restaurants before, I'm sure the staff has changed over time but obviously the training hasn't. The staff and management there needs to become more aware of...
Read moreVisited for the first time on a Sunday afternoon. Atmosphere was bustling with activity but there were still places to sit and have a cozy conversation. The decorations were adorable (they even had a plush Pikachu!). Coffee was great as well and the breakfast bagel was delicious.
My only gripe with the place was the service, because I was given a number to put on my table and I had assumed that meant my coffee would be brought to me since I had placed my order “for here.” However, after a few minutes my food arrived but my coffee hadn’t come, so I went to ask the barista if I was supposed to come get my coffee order at the counter. Rather than just saying “oh yes, we have your coffee order right here,” the barista told me that they’d been calling my name repeatedly for the last few minutes in a visibly irritated tone. I even tried apologizing for the misunderstanding, but they completely ignored me. This was honestly very off-putting for what was a genuine misunderstanding for a first time visitor and would be the only reason I’d be hesitant to return. If the owner is reading these, I’d suggest having the baristas notify customers who order both food and coffee when they are paying to pick up their drinks at the counter so that they can make sure to listen for their name.
Slowpokes really is a cute coffee shop and I love that it’s across the street from a nice park. I hope that my experience with their service was just an off day because I’d love to go back sometime...
