First off let me say the place was clean, calm and relaxing…I have been wanting to come here for about a year now, I always see it when I’m headed to Tropical Cafe. Parking very convenient. Upon entering the restaurant signs are very visible for first comers, pretty much guide you through the line. Now employees smiled as they call names for people who ordered earlier. I ordered a cinnamon waffle with creme brûlée, 2 bacon tacos with sauce on the side and 2 orange juices for my mother and I. Cost me no more than about $21. Took about 10 minutes to receive my waffles and orange juice when asked about the tacos, I was rudely told that they were giving to me already. My reply was no I’m sorry did not receive them after being told again by (Randy) that yes I did. So I pointed to the table where my mother was sitting and of course no bacon tacos just napkins a spoon and fork. I then ask (Randy) if I could get the other orange juice for my mother. He then again in a rude tone “oh you only paid for 1” so I politely told him well I asked for 2 so if you failed to charge me for 2 please I have no problem purchasing another, then only to receive my drink (add..$7.38) in a to-go cup. (Because for some reason they ran out of glass at 11:00am) he apologized but I really feel like his apology was sarcasm. Oh 1 last thing was told I couldn’t have both maple syrup and crème’s brûlée’s had to choose 1 and the offer to purchase extra was not available. Why when the container for 2 mini waffles is this small. I may return for dinner one evening maybe I will have better service….(Randy should use a check off system when gathering customers food to make sure he is giving them what they ordered (I do understand being on the frontline can be frustrating but never take your frustration out on the customer. This should never happen again! To...
Read moreI rarely leave reviews, but my experience at Sunday Press off Ella in Houston was so uncomfortable that I feel compelled to share.
I was at the shop late in the evening, and even though Sunday Press is supposed to be open until midnight, the manager, who stated his name was Justin, decided to start closing early because business was slow. That in itself is frustrating. If the hours are not realistic, the business should change them instead of arbitrarily deciding to kick customers out early.
What made the situation completely unacceptable was how he went about it. Instead of politely informing customers that he was closing early, he turned up the music to a blaring, derogatory mix that made it clear we were being told to leave. It was aggressive, passive-aggressive, and extremely unprofessional. On top of that, he spoke to another customer in a rude, overly aggressive manner, which made the whole environment tense and uncomfortable. Watching that interaction made me feel personally unwelcome. Instead of enjoying my time at the café, I felt like I was being pushed out for no reason.
The combination of the aggressive music, the rude attitude, and the unnecessary hostility completely ruined what should have been a casual, relaxed experience. A business can have slow nights, but there is a professional way to handle it. This was not it. Customers should never leave feeling disrespected or unwanted, especially when the posted hours suggest the shop is still open.
Sunday Press needs to seriously address how they manage closing time and customer interactions. If early closures are going to happen, they should update their hours or handle it politely. Until then, I cannot recommend this location. There are plenty of other Houston cafés where customer service and respect for patrons...
Read moreThis was my first time here in about 2 years. I loved this place when it first opened, but now I'm having mixed feelings because I had the worst experience ever here through the drive thru. It took about more than 30 minutes for our food to be ready. The staff said they only had one chef in the kitchen making our order Asain Grains Power Bowl and tuna salad sandwich, and avacado egg toast (that was spend over 44$ on all together) We waited about 10 minutes in the drive through, then they said it'll be two minutes and the apologized for the wait. It was not 2 minutes later, more like 10 more minutes, they then told us to park on the side of the cafe so they could give it to us, more minutes when by at this point. More than 30 minutes. We went back to the drive thru window and knocked on the window glass and they apologized again then we finally got our order after these frustrating 30 minutes or so. The sandwich wasn't even in the bag when I checked. We had to knock on the window glass again that we're missing a sandwich, it was right there in their shop behind the drive thru window.
The whole wait of more than 30 minutes was really upsetting. I'm normally a patient person, but waiting more than 10 minutes (which drive thru food should be ready about more or less than that) for drive thru orders really made me upset. Our order took more than 30 minutes to be ready and out.
I don't know if it's due to low staff or that our order was big, or needed to be cooked, but I'm gonna take a good while break from place. Really big shame for me to admit, because I loved this place when they first opened. Now I'm having...
