I couldn’t decide what to get here everything looked so good! I went with the bananas foster waffle and I did not regret it. They came with a caramel sauce. My wife got the breakfast with two eggs, sausage, hash browns, bread, and gravy. The bread and gravy was too much for her, but I wish we’d have taken that gravy to-go home with us! I was happy with my choice of bananas foster. I loved the caramel sauce the waffles were served with, too. I only wish there had been more bananas. I also ordered the chai and it was so good I drank it most of it before my food was served. I especially loved the giant coffee cup it was served in. They also had TVs on and a cute Instagrammable wall. We saw two different large tables of seniors — one talking about art, the other playing games. There were additional reserved tables, too. We were all served by Natalie who was just the sweetest. I also really loved how this place had a drive-thru. I’m not on this side of town often, but I’ll definitely be back here the next time I am!

First time to visit this eatery but definitely not my last. OMG was the food delicious. Went there to celebrate a personal milestone. The recommendation was made by Serena since she has been there before. It has been talked about on a group (FB) Mom's & Ladies of Southwest Houston. I can understand why it is so well talked about. Everything is made from scratch the flavor of my burger exploded in my mouth I learned I had taste buds I was not aware I had. The portions are huge and the service was fast, friendly and efficient. The place was very relaxed and comfortable. A great overall experience in food and ambiance. I had the Chili Mac & Cheese Burger on Wheat and Serena had the Mac & Cheese bowl with fried Chicken. These pictures do it little justice. You must go there and try it everything is just mouth watering.

I can’t say that I will be back for any meal but they have brunch on weekdays so that drew me to this spot. The brunch was large but not flavorful. My partner asked for an extra plate since he had been here prior to my visit. He did note that the portion seemed smaller than before. There are windows surrounding the entire restaurant and it was cooler outside than inside. We decided to sit out on the front patio and then an employee decides he must change the promo sign for the day…(see picture attached) My rating is mostly for this employee’s attitude towards bringing silverware to our table and changing this promo sign while we were sitting 2 feet away from his disturbance. Counter service does not mean lack of customer service.

Update May 2022

Can I give this restaurant 6 stars?

Update September 2021:

Tapester's stayed open through the pandemic, adding outdoor tables and improving their to-go game. We visited them about once a quarter, opting to sit outside. Today, mid-morning, the inside tables were empty so we ate in there. They have remained consistently excellent in terms of taste, quality, service and cleanliness, so I upgraded my rating to 5 stars, probably later than I should have.

A comment about today's order: We had avocado toast that comes on amazing educational star rye bread (with caraway seeds, which we love but isn't everybody's favorite) and perfect over easy eggs on each thick slice of toast. It is a generous meal before adding optional protein (crispy chicken, bacon, smoked salmon, etc.) . I took half home half for later, my wife and I both lamenting we couldn't finish. We also tried their breakfast tacos, and they were bursting with flavor.

I don't think about Tapester's often enough, because their menu often has something i'm craving, whether sinfully sweet, sinfully savory, or nicely healthy. I promise to do better...

The old review from 2018:

Good fresh food nicely prepared. Casual. Menu can be quite sinful, but with a bit of care, one can get low carb, Paleo, and vegetarian meals. Coffee is great. Brunch available on weekends and breakfast tacos are very good and reasonably priced.

Family-run. Good food. ...

UPDATE: I had already given this place a 5-star review (see below). I feel the need to update my review due to (1) trying more menu items, (2) experiencing especially excellent customer service.

(1) Everything I've tried here is great, but I particularly recommend the nachos, burgers, and the Texas Scramble.

(2) Once I ordered a Jalapeno Burger for pickup, and they realized after I'd left that they'd left off the fried jalapenos. They called me to tell me, I drove back (even though I was almost home), and they gave me the jalapenos as well as a small gift card and complimentary desert. Even considering the extra driving I had to do, this felt like a more-than-generous compensation for their mistake, and it was greatly appreciated. This is a small business that values its regular customers.

ORIGINAL REVIEW:

The best nachos around.

Really, everything here is great, but the nachos are the standout for me. It really is a "mountain" of "loaded" nachos. You get 3-4x as much food as the nachos at Pappasito's--for the same price. Also better than the Mexican restaurants down Main St. near 610. Same for Molina's, Antonio's, etc. Probably the best nachos in the inner loop.

I just wished they opened earlier and...
