This authentic Filipino bakery brings me back to the Philippines. I’m so glad there’s this legit bakery in Houston. Waiting for them to open in Dallas! The 4-hr drive was worth it! Not all the options were great as there is some improvement needed but the variety is amazing and overwhelming. Clean bakery and the staff were super friendly and helpful.
On a Sunday morning at 9 am, a lot of the goods were fresh and some items were not ready yet. A lot were still warm but already packaged so there was some moisture in the plastic packaging (needs to be cooled down longer before packing). I like that there are options to try individual items rather than only large packs. I bought a lot of items to try and many more I need to come back for!
The buko pie and chicken empanada were good!
The plain ensaymada, milky cheese bread, and pan de ube were soft only when eaten fresh or heated up so make sure to eat it warm! These can also be frozen! I made the mistake of getting the plain ensaymada which was just sugar and butter on top! I missed the queso de bola ensaymada which is the one I wanted! The milky cheese bread didn’t really taste cheesy.
The bibinka was soft and flavor was good. Wish there was cheese and butter sugar on top with the salted egg then it would be amazing!
The egg pie was abit too sweet but the crust was good.
The cheesy rolls were almost like Porto’s but it’s not the same. It had the right delicious cheesy flavor but the crust was doughy and totally different. It’s not crispy even after toasting it.
The siopao asado was ok. The filling was nice without too much fat but not enough inside, imo. The bola bola was just ok. Tasted like siomai? There was no egg in it which was disappointing. I thought the sauce it came with was unnecessary. The dough was nice and fluffy after resteaming.
I was disappointed with the turon as the plantain inside was really small and nothing special about it. There was a lot of wrapper.
Overall it’s a great option for legit Filipino baked goods and I need to come back for the halo-halo, the queso de bola ensaymada, ube pandesal, kutsinta, and pastillas! Can’t...
Read moreLet me say firstly that I am very glad this bakery opened a location in this city. It is by far the closest you will get to the Filipino taste that I dearly miss so much.
I made two visits to this place on a Saturday. I made on visit during the midday (11am), where it had a good amount of foot traffic. The other visit was in the morning around 8am. Go during the former period as in the morning visit they were not fully stocked at the counter and no drinks were available.
Prices were ok for what you get, but the quality was there. Ignore the drinks, the pricing was outrageous on those. If you want one ask for light ice. They will try to fill the cup with ice all the way to the top. Please don't let them get away with that kind of chicanery.
There are a lot of different breads to choose from and from what I purchased, all were tasty. Here are some standouts that you should definitely get.
Cheese balls (6 for 10.50) Small yeasty buns filled with cream cheese and dusted with sharp cheese powder.
Classic queso de bola ensaymada (3.25) Brioche bun slathered with butter spread and topped with shredded edam cheese.
Pork asdo siopao (2.99ea). These steamed buns with shredded sweet pork filling are kept in the refrigerated case. They are extremely fluffy. Also sold in packs of four.
Pork adobo pandesal (2.99) located in the case by the register. Best of the three stuffed pandesal offered.
One note: the chicken empanada was 2.75. It has a sweet shredded chicken filling with carrots and raisins.
For me it is a must try place. Assume to spend a lot of money here with offerings that you will not find in a any Pinoy bakery here, at least...
Read moreWe went here last week and got some cream cheese bread, kutsinta, palitaw, halo-halo and the green drink. I’ll start with the cream cheese bread first it is soooooo yummy the bread is fluffy and just melts in your mouth it’s definitely a 10/10, the kutsinta is also good except for when I ask for the garnish (shredded coconut/nyog) it’s bad because not only it doesn’t taste like coconut at all, the texture is like shredded styrofoam, the palitaw is not fresh anymore it’s a bit hard and it doesn’t have sugar at all, they also use the same shredded coconut that they give for kutsinta. The cashier when I ask for garnish for palitaw and kutsinta she only give me the shredded coconut for kutsinta and nothing for the palitaw so I don’t know if they’re selling it as it is because if so it’s bland, palitaw has sugar in it. So when I got home I just pour some sugar of our own. So basically the palitaw is bland, hard, not fresh and doesn’t come with sugar. The drinks are the best halo-halo is so filling there’s a lot of different varieties they put in it and the green drink my daughter says it’s a 10/10 also. The place is clean and well stocked!!! We’ll definitely be back for the cream cheese bread and halo-halo and maybe try other...
