I DO NOT RECOMMEND DINING AT THIS PLACE! Today my family and I visited this restaurant to celebrate the new year but our happy moment was quickly ruined by this waitress with glasses and her hair in a bun. She made me uncomfortable and verbally harassed me and demanded me to pay her more tips when we already had tipped her $8, she demanded that we should tip her more around $16-25 which was ridiculous. It is illegal for an employee to try to convince or force a customer to tip them more when it’s not required by law or by the business owner. Not everyone can afford to tip high amounts especially since I am a college student who can’t afford much and struggling to make ends meet and make less than minimum wage. After we already paid the bill the waitress kept standing there at our table blocking the way and spoke to us all snarky and said things such as, “I am the best server here but I want to ask for a reason why you didn’t tip me more” and comparing other bills to try to make us feel bad and said “the other table gave me $30 so you should’ve as well” which is very unprofessional. Demanding more tips is considered tip baiting. I am sure this business owners do not know or ever encourage their employees to do such a thing to their customers. I am a customer and not a beggar please don’t make me feel that way or otherwise I will feel reluctant to come back. And not to mention, this is not the first occurrence, there was another time I came here with my family and another male waiter with curly hair and glasses also tried to make my grandma feel bad after she already had tipped $12 in cash and he was all “you have to tip MORE on the credit card besides cash on the receipt” and I suspected that it’s because he pocketed the cash for himself so he was demanding more to split with his other coworkers. The audacity of these waiters to try to guilt trip people and their service was definitely not good at all and they were very rude. Demanding tips from a customer in any situations is inappropriate and disrespectful.

Entering this place, the atmosphere is nice and organized. The waiter helped my family and I to a table promptly. There’s a rectangular island in the middle that serves sushi and seafood. Another area on the back has a few select items that are interesting to get. I got two of each and tasted one each with and without soy sauce/wasabi. There are people who make the sushi in front of you when needed so that is good to see. The texture and flavors of all the sushi I tasted are great! Nothing seemed off about anything. Great expectations. I got a second plate that consisted of: Takoyaki, grilled shrimp, mussels (one has cheese and garnish? while the other one I got from the rectangular island), beef, and frog legs that I rarely try. The crab meat on the bottom of the image my parents helped me open. You would have to ask the waiters/waitresses for a crab opener. The takoyaki had a nice color to it and once you bite, the texture seems off. I expected the texture to be fluffy but it was like a creamy liquid. It is probably the filling. The flavor of the takoyaki is good overall. The beef has amazing texture, seasoned well, and the flavor has a nice garlicky, beefy taste. Just a bit oily since it was rested for awhile on the buffet plate. I bet it would’ve tasted way better when it was cooked before I got some. The frog legs are crispy with a nice bite. Salty and taste like chicken. I rarely eat frog legs but these are great to whoever don’t eat frog legs or scared to eat. The grilled shrimp is crispy but very salty to my liking. One of my family members like it though, just not my preference. The mussels are mediocre at best. The crab legs are long and the meat is sweet, love it! I tried the raw oysters with lemon and it didn’t taste fresh. Had to keep one under the napkin unfortunately since I can’t eat the second one. Overall, 4/5. I would go here as a recommendation from anyone, but won’t go here as often since it’s a bit expensive for 31 bucks per member on a Sunday.

I was so hyped when I heard tokyo japan is back in business, i havent been here in years since they closed. I went with my family, i was worried they changed cooks because i seen some unpleasant reviews, but after i actually been there in person and ate one of everything they had, i can guarantee you that the food is as amazing as before! Someone said the takoyaki balls are bad but i had like 7 and i can vouch for them, they are the best takoyaki balls ive ever had, i ate them before at poke ramen and they werent as good as they are at tokyo japan. Also ive read reviews that say the sushi is bad, ive had one of each and i swear by their sushi, i was so sad when they closed, i tried going to different sushi buffets like kirin or others, and they were all garbage, especially kirin was the worse with disgusting fishy shrimp and rotten tasting sushi, never went back there and gave up on sushi buffets after i tried another place, cannot rember name, and was almost as bad as kirin. I feel like the few bad reviews are fake or are from competitors because ive been there with 3 others and we all had really amazingly fresh sushi and great food in general, also the service is way better than a few years ago, the waitress that took care of us refilled our drinks multiple times and gave us napkins even without asking in between meals. I have already told all my friends about this place and how amazing it is, i wish i knew sooner it re opened. I will come back again to eat here next week, i might try hot pot since i never tried that at their place before. Edit Apr11 2025: google wont let me leave a new review on this..... i tried to go at 5pm today and its closed even though on the website it says open....... please update the website to say its closed, they had a rain water notice on the door, dont know when this will open....

One star would sadly be the BEST I could give them. I came back with my family after it reopened again since pre-pandemic. We were all so excited to see that they made a new addition of hotpot to their menu. However, we were disappointed to see that since now they added hotpot, they got rid of a lot of their old menu items. There were no variety of sushi neither were there many varieties of toppings for hotpot. Overall I would rate the food 5/10.

Personally I don’t mind trying new things and I’m not one to give reviews either. However, as a server myself, I am beyond disappointed in the service and professionalism of this restaurant now. I’ve been to different restaurants here and there and some of the service has been MAX okay, but at this restaurant I think staff may need a little more training and public etiquette. We came in the restaurant to be greeted by a “host” that I didn’t think appeared to be one, but that wasn’t the issue. The issue was he took our drink order and wasn’t even sure what drink they had and continued to just put whatever he thought was right. Not only that but he was constantly on his phone when trying to “help” us and eventually we had to figure everything out ourselves. My brother asked for assistance and the worker was on his phone and holding it in plain site while carelessly aiding my brother. I personally thought it was very unprofessional. I did see our server try her best but she hardly ever tried to check on us in the beginning. Only towards the end when she wanted us to leave and was too focused on the tip being automatically included and when we gave her the wrong amount of tip in cash she corrected us and asked for more in a rude manner. They didn’t even informed us that if we sat in a party section it was going to include auto gratuity and we were only a party of five that could sit ELSEWHERE outside of the party section, they just sat us there themselves. They said auto gratuity is not included outside of the party section and when they informed us too late we didn’t want to be an inconvenience to move because we honestly just gave up. Sad to say I’ll never come back and the old Tokyo One will be missed. I will say I’m not speaking ill of ALL the workers since I personally have not encountered everyone, there was one server who wasn’t even ours that helped out a bit and I greatly...

Extremely disappointing, if you like hotpot, I'm sure you can get something out of going here, but if you're not adept at cooking, or looking for a buffet to eat at, stay far far away.

A few years ago, my family and I used to frequent this location, it had wonderful sushi (for a buffet restaurant), juicy and tasty meats and the likes, and an infinite supply of crab legs. However, this place shutdown awhile ago, and to my surprise, had its grand opening not too long ago, me and my family were excited to try it again, but that excitement was in vain.

A 2 out of 5 stars is a bit of an understatement, but I don't want to give my favorite restaurant of the past a 1/5, since the original vision is kind of still here, just clouded. Half of the buffet used to be sushi, now it is just a small part, with only a few sushi rolls. The crab legs are also gone, and the dessert was both flavorless and dry sadly. The meats and tempura are still there, but something felt off about them, maybe a bit less flavor? It could just be me remembering wrong.

The service was decent, our waiter did not know the proper cooking times for shrimp, and there weren't any temperatures listed, only 1-4 temperatures. The waiter did however come to our aid frequently, and delivered food and drinks better than most places.

Some tips for the restaurant: Please put up a sign on how to make a good tasting hotpot, I've never heard of hotpot before coming here, and was very confused and tried too many things, making the soup taste awful, the same for my entire family. Perhaps it is my fault for not doing research, but I found a few other families struggling to choose what may or may not taste good, and with how expensive this restaurant is, trial and error may not be an option for everybody. Maybe put up some beginner and advanced recipes for making a good hotpot, and put up times to cook the seafood and meat at, I cannot see how this is legal, but there's no sign on how long to heat up anything, nor are there temperatures on the heaters.

Choose if you want to become a hotpot restaurant or a buffet place, since skating between the two will do nothing but put you out of business. The buffet has been nearly halved to what it originally was, and the new hotpot design doesn't feel very thought out, with key ingredients being...
