Rest House Cafe — Restaurant in Houston

The taste of their meat saves them. The food was good but the service was kinda slow. It is smokey there but what do you expect from a hookah bar. Needs better ventilation is all. They got part of our order wrong. The decor was not Mediterranean style nor pretty... prices were decent. Food was decent. The grape leaves rolls we got were my leaat favorite and i usually love those. I love the spices they use in the meats and hummus. Fresh and delightful but still not worth the time we waited to get the food. I noticed they only had one person in the kitchen which is fair for the few people that were there. Definitely will get hookah next time and maybe then i can change my mind about reviewing...

The food is truly sublime and the atmosphere is relaxing. The hookah is lovely as well and the waiters have always in my experience been friendly socially as well as professionally when it involves handling and serving my food, changing the coals, or just listening and having good conversation. The interior of the diner is clean and reflects the style of the part of the world where this diner takes its name. The owner Ishmael is also the picture of great service as well as proper cooking. Super excited about having a Mediterranean restaurant in the north side. Tried them at 2 different times. Some things are good and some things are okay... 1st time they gave me rice like chinese sticky rice and 2bd time it was okay. They beef shawarma is good. Didnt like the chicken. Waiting to try their cheese n zaatar bread. Hoping its good. Also tried their kafta kabab...which was good. The weirdest part is that they give the to go food in plasticware.
