Pasteko USA — Restaurant in Houston

This visit wasn't so great. We placed our order and paid. While waiting, I was informed they couldn't make two blueberry, they could only make one. I said that was fine, we'd take one blueberry and a second apple strudel. Another customer comes in and places an order. His order was ready before ours. The employee bagging his order dropped a container of green sauce upside down on the floor when getting it out of the cooler. She gets another green sauce, and the man leaves. The employee bent down and cleaned the mess off the floor, then returned the container to the cooler instead of throwing it out. Part of our order was brought out, and two were still baking. As I was handed the first bag, I saw tiny ants walking on the counter where the register was and paper bags for orders. I grabbed the bag so we didn't have any ants get into it. Once our other two items were done, we bolted. We got home, and the blueberry wasn't blueberry. It was rice pudding. While the food is great, I was completely turned off by the green sauce returned to the cooler...

Came here on my lunch break because it was close by. This is a perfect example of "hole-in-the-wall" places. The pasteko is baked fresh and toasted in the oven just before you get it. I've tried the blueberry cream cheese, cinnamon apple, chicken tinga, classic ground beef, mushroom poblano and Hawaiian pizza pastekos.

The mushroom poblano is incredible. It is worth driving out of your way to get. It's creamy, rich, savory and piping hot. After that would be the Classic, then the Chicken Tinga. Any of the savory ones I've had are all delicious with the salsa. Their salsa is definitely on top of the list for Mexican restaurants I've been to. Overall...

Super glad I came! :) I walked into a well decorated and clean store, Armando was there to greet me and take my order and he was great. Very knowledgeable about the menu, patient with explaining everything to me and even showed me how the Pastekos are made. Everything (including the dough) is made from scratch and made in house, fresh. When I got home they were still very hot :) the outside is very buttery, flakey and delicious. I ordered the ranchero and sausage from the breakfast section and apple flavored from there sweet. Everything is great and I look forward...
