Read moreTried it for the first time today 10/5/24 and ordered 1 oxtail plate, and 1 goat curry plate, both with rice and peas and fried plantain. I called in my order in advance and said I was 20 mins away, The lady assured me it will be ready when I arrived.. I get there and the place and atmosphere was really nice. I was the only customer except for a couple dining in. Partially greeted by the lady I spoke to otp & ended up waiting awhile for my food even after being told it’ll be ready when I arrived.. the lady said 5 mins & I still wanted a good 10 mins then was told it’ll be 5 mins again a second time.. which to me is not right! Don’t give me an expectation if it isn’t at least somewhat accurate, just say “it’ll be ready soon” Anyway I get home to eat with my lady and we both agree that the meat was very skimped out on. I spent basically $50 for 2 plates just to mainly get rice and peas.. I’m from the Virgin Islands and I can confidently say that this was not authentic Caribbean food. It wasn’t down right nasty but it’s lacking the depth and true flavor of Caribbean curry and oxtail. It’s like a salty but washed/watered down version to me. I feel I wasted my money and should have went to my usual place The Caribbean Hot Pot.
The fried plantain was good, but then again those don’t really take skill or finesse to cook and hard to mess up. you just wait for the plantain to turn overly ripe almost rotten on the outside, peel, and slice them up, then fry. (Letting them get overly ripe makes them taste sweet) I know my review is an unpopular opinion and that’s fine.. I’m going to be honest though.
Anyway I probably won’t be...

From the very first bite, it was clear—this was real Jamaican food. Rich, soulful, bursting with flavor, and cooked with love. If you’re looking for authentic island cuisine that hits all the right notes, look no further.
Jerk Chicken – Smoky, spicy, and perfectly charred. You could taste the pimento, thyme, and Scotch bonnet in every bite. Moist on the inside, fire-kissed on the outside. This was not some watered-down version—this was the real deal.
Brown Stew Chicken – Tender to the bone, simmered in a deep, savory gravy with sweet bell peppers and onions. The sauce alone could make you dance. Comfort food that wraps you up like a Caribbean sunset.
Rice and Peas – Creamy, perfectly seasoned, and cooked with coconut milk and just the right touch of garlic and scallion. Not just a side dish—this was soul food, pure and simple.
Plantains – Golden and caramelized, sweet with a little crisp on the edge. A perfect contrast to the spice of the jerk and the richness of the stew.
Cabbage – Steamed down with just enough seasoning to keep it light, but still full of flavor. It tied the whole plate together beautifully.
Rum Punch – Tropical, fruity, and dangerously smooth. The kind of drink that sneaks up on you with a smile. One sip and you’re instantly on island time.
Every element of the meal felt like it came straight from a Jamaican kitchen—no shortcuts, no imitation. Just real, authentic flavor and love in every bite.
One Love from...
