If you’re in Houston and looking to try something truly unique, Viva Goa is the perfect spot for authentic Goan cuisine. Most Indian restaurants in the US serve either North Indian or South Indian food. Goan food is incredibly rare, and Viva Goa stands out as a one-of-a-kind gem. The flavors and dishes here are exactly like what you’d find in Goa itself. The expertise of the chef Johnny, and he hails from Goa, shines through all the food at this place. Every dish we tried was amazing. Rawa fried prawns and bombay duck, fried kingfish, goat xacuti and my favorite pork sorpatel were all to die for. The focus on traditional Goan flavors is what makes Viva Goa so special. There’s another Goan-inspired restaurant in Houston, Da Gama, which offers a more fusion take on the cuisine but and at a much higher price point. While Da Gama has its appeal, Viva Goa delivers a more traditional and authentic experience that’s hard to find, making it a clear winner if you’re craving true Goan food. The service was friendly and efficient, making the entire experience even better. For anyone in Houston who wants to explore this rare and flavorful cuisine, Viva Goa is a must-visit. You won’t be disappointed!

We were really excited to visit Viva Goa because their menu features so many dishes we love and miss from back home in India. They offer a great variety, and we tried a few standout items. The mackerel fish curry was good, with fresh-tasting fish and well-balanced flavors. We were especially eager to try the bombil fish fry, as it’s rare to find bombil here. Unfortunately, the fish wasn’t fresh, which was disappointing. The pork sorpotel was another dish I was looking forward to, but it had an unpleasant smell that made it difficult to eat. On the bright side, the fish fingers were absolutely delicious! We ordered them for our toddler, and they were incredibly fresh—the fish practically melted in our mouths. If there’s one dish we’d highly recommend, it would be this one. The staff and owners were warm, welcoming, and a pleasure to talk to. Despite some hits and misses, we will definitely be visiting again to try more dishes!

I've travelled a one day personal trip to Houston and I had my dinner in Viva Goa. I'm a vegetarian and it was 11pm, this was the only restaured open nearby the place I stayed. I didn't expect such a good food to be honest with the restaurent appearance in a gas station. I had Malabar parata and panner tikka masala and it was amazing. Surprisingly they have servered this with some onions and lemon (typical Indian sides) as other restaurent won't. I don't know if the parata is ready-made or freshly made but it was very tasty and fresh. Panner tikka masala was awesome and one of the best I've tried in indian restaurants in USA.

My recent visit to this Indian (Goan)Restaurant With our whole Dance troupe was an absolute delight! From the moment we entered, we were greeted warmly by Manager Victor, who ensured our experience was nothing short of exceptional. His attention to detail and dedication to customer satisfaction truly stood out.

Our Manager, was incredibly attentive and made sure we felt right at home in the new environment. He provided excellent recommendations, including the must-try Beef Tongue Green Masala, which was a flavor explosion! Each dish we sampled was a culinary masterpiece, highlighting the chef's skill and the restaurant's commitment to quality ingredients.

The ambiance was inviting, the service was impeccable, and the food was beyond delicious. I can't recommend this restaurant enough to anyone looking for an unforgettable dining experience. Kudos to chef Anthony and Owner Jonny and their family and the entire team for exceeding our expectations. We'll definitely be...
