For all the people that remember Spaghetti Warehouse in OKC and Tulsa, Oklahoma, this review is for you. For my birthday, we decided to make the drive down to Houston specifically for this restaurant because we had celebrated so many birthdays for the kids when we had a Spaghetti Warehouse in Tulsa. Hubs and I ordered the 15-layer lasagna. I will say, they got it 99% right which was fine by me. Warehouse 72's was a tad sweeter than I remembered but sweeter isn't a deal breaker for me. I like a slightly sweeter marinara sauce anyway. Other than that, it was dead on! BUT the main reason we liked Spaghetti Warehouse was the sourdough bread! And they missed the mark on this one. We had to ask for it, it was not brought out to the table like SW used to. This bread is very similar to Cheesecake Factory's white bread. It is rustic instead of the fluffier loaf we remembered. It was good, softer than Cheesecake Factory's hard (and seems to get harder all the time) white loaf. So, we were disappointed in that. We really wanted that sourdough bread again! The garlic butter was similar at least. Even when Zio's (in Oklahoma) closed, it is hard to find bread like that anymore. The service was top notch!!! Our waiter gave the best service I have ever had! Which is saying a lot because we eat out a lot and have traveled to several places around the USA and this was the best service and birthday celebration at a restaurant I could ask for. The only downside was our adult son's Chicken Fried New York Strip. It is served on a bed of mashed potatoes so the underside is soggy, not crisp like it should be. The mashed potatoes should be served NEXT to, not UNDER the Chicken Fried Steak. Since our son does not like jalapeño gravy, he left it off the steak. I had a few bites of his steak, and it was BLAND. No seasoning in the breading whatsoever! We had diner CFS that tasted so much better. The cut of meat was bad also. I understand they probably won't use the best cut of meat but at least not have a fatty tough vein down the middle. So, for people that leave the gravy off the CFS, you won't have any flavor at all. We did bring this up so they graciously took this off our check since our son couldn't finish his CFS. Luckily, I had some of my lasagna left over to give him. I definitely recommend Warehouse 72 and I would go back. Just get the 15-layer lasagna instead! Also, the truffle fries were pretty good too. A few were overcooked (they are the shoestring size so easy to overcook) but the...
Read moreMy wife and I had the unfortunate circumstance of making a reservation at Warehouse 72 the same night they were bought out for the evening. Both Nitin - the Director of Operations, and Brian - the General Manager reached out to me to invite us back on another evening. We had the unforgettable experience of dining there last night.
Once you enter the restaurant proper you forget that moments before you were in the Hyatt's lobby, as the elegant white drapery weaved between columns around the seating area effectively seclude you away to enjoy your meal. A massive video board sets the backdrop that loops between many gorgeously artistic animations and scenes that my wife and I were delighted by.
We started our evening off with the tiger shrimp tacos and fried mozzarella appetizers. We ordered the Rejuvination and Summer Thyme cocktails to accompany. Both drinks were deliciously refreshing and would highly recommend. The tacos were full size tacos generously loaded with large succulent shrimp that were contrasted with the refreshing crunch of the micro greens, red cabbage, and onions, ending with a nice twist of spiciness.
The fried mozzarella was absolutely scrumptious, with barely any drops of tomato sauce left on our plate once we set our forks down.
Shortly after our entrees were served, my wife opting for the Jidori half chicken while I chose the truffle angel hair pasta with chicken on top. I was surprised at the very generous portions before us! The pasta was deliciously rich and creamy. My wife offered me a forkful of her chicken. As soon as I tried it I was floored. The chicken melted in my mouth - it was the softest, most tender bite of chicken I've ever experienced in my life. I am not someone who dines out to order chicken of all things, but I am not exaggerating when I say this chicken melted like butter.
After entrees we were offered coffee and dessert so we requested some black coffee with their frozen s'mores. Our server brought the plate of s'mores to our table and whipped out her little chef torch to char the marshmallows in front of us before we dug in. It was a fun and tasty dessert to end our meal.
The service was incredible, from the moment we were greeted by the hostess to meeting the manager and director, and departing after an unforgettable experience. My wife and I decided we will definitely be returning for future date nights, as well as future anniversaries.
Thank you to everyone at Warehouse 72 for a truly...
Read moreI dined here with my husband and a friend for Houston Restaurant Week. The service was good, but very different.....it never felt like a service at a typical restaurant. It felt more down to earth and a little homey, despite the ambiance being more upscale industrial and chic. The food overall was good, but nothing blew us out of the water.
(Free) Bread: This was the saddest loaf of bread I have ever seen at a restaurant. It was small and just not very enticing looking. That being said, the taste was fine....like a regular bolillo...but the butter....OMG THE BUTTER. The butter was delicious! It was infused with something and it was delicious.
Fried Mozzarella with Marinara: 5/5 - super delicious, would 1000% get this again. This was the star of the night.
Broiled Gulf Oysters: 2/5 - They did not taste fresh and were not as flavorful as the menu description boasted. I would skip these.
Mac & Cheese with Maple Glazed Pork Belly: 4/5 - the pork belly was pretty good
Za'atar Roasted Chicken: 4/5 - Perfectly cooked and NOT DRY. This chicken had good flavor and even the grilled broccolini was nicely seasoned, which I appreciate since too many restaurants under season or just don't season their vegetables.
NY Strip Steak: 4/5 - Perfectly cooked and while a NY strip is not my go-to cut of beef, this was prepared very nicely. The crispy smashed potatoes that came with it were DELICIOUS. Perfectly crispy on the outside and soft on the inside.
Chocolate Nutella Torte: 3/5 - This was delicious, but very dense and very decadent....so much so that a few bites was more than enough for me. The 3/5 is not a reflection on the quality of food, but a personal preference. If you really love super chocolatey things, then this will probably be a 5/5 for you!
Coconut Milk Panna Cotta: 4/5 - This was a delightful surprise. Refreshing and light, but very flavorful. My husband loved this dessert.
The ambiance of the restaurant is nice and feels very modern; however, it can easily get very loud. We went at 5:30 PM on a Friday and even with very few people dining it was still on the verge of being a little too loud. I wouldn't want to be here at peak hours because of the noise. Personally, I don't like having to yell at someone at the dinner table just so they can hear me....I guess that's when you know you're...
