I'm probably never eating at Wendy's again.
Last Saturday night, my fiance and I went to this location at 9:00 p.m. because spicy chicken sandwiches are amazing. We sat at the drive-thru for 10-15 minutes, without so much as a, "We'll be right with you." Not even static through the speaker.
We eventually gave up and drove slowly past the pickup window to see if maybe the speaker was just broken. Nope. Straight up, there was no one behind the counter. The soda machine was even turned off, and they have one of those computerized ones that are bright enough to land a plane with. So when I say that thing was dark, know that there's a big difference between on and off.
The only employees I saw inside were the three that were cleaning up the dining room area, who just watched as we drove to the place next door (you know what it is if you've been there). I got angry, and I tweeted about this experience while we were in that other place's drive-thru. It's not something I normally do, but I was hangry and frustrated.
Three days later, on Tuesday, Wendy's Twitter account replies, asking me to DM my phone number. I do that, and they don't reply with anything. I don't even get a call that day. Two days later on Thursday (today), I got a call from the location manager, who basically told me he has the receipts to prove they were open.
If this is how Wendy's is going to handle things---by calling someone a liar--I'm going somewhere else. I wasn't asking for anything for free. I just wanted them to know that the place closed early. God knows there is a myriad of places to choose from in a city...
Read moreThis visit was shortly after the dramatic derecho power loss. There was a long line in the drive but the wait wasn't terribly long. That speed unfortunately negatively impacted the quality of the food. It was obviously thrown together more for speed than anything else.
The orange Frosty was properly frozen and tasted very good, but the cup was underfilled by about a third. That was disappointing. It was enjoyable but I prefer the chocolate.
I ordered the cheese and bacon fries with cheese sauce. I was surprised by how small the serving was considering the price which is a corporate decision. Yet again the fill of container was skuse of impy and the fries were mostly limp and not very hot. The cheese, what there was of it, was very poorly distributed over the fries as was the bacon. The amount of bacon was fine.
I get that this Wendy's was stressed by the volume of business but customers had often had to search and/or drive more than usual because there was no electricity at home or many other restaurants. This meant hangry customers who probably expected the quality control we expect there.
The friends I was with got a decent burger and a ghost pepper chicken sandwich. Their fries were also sub standard. We just ate the food as is due to fatigue and hunger and the crush of people. The long power outage stressed everyone but someone should be checking what gets handed out...
Read moreThe food was good, my issue is with the cashier Valery (the young hispanic girl). From the moment I walked up, the employee didn’t greet me, didn’t smile once, and had an attitude the entire time. While I was trying to order, she wouldn’t make eye contact, kept walking away mid-order, and didn’t even hand me my receipt—she just left it in the printer; twice.
Later during the same visit, I went back to order Frostys for my kids. I asked for smalls, but she rang them up as mediums. I didn’t realize the mistake until she went to give them to me and I asked if it was a size small. She asked, “Did you ask for a medium or a small?” I told her I said small, and she replied, “You didn’t say nothing,” then walked off and ignored me. Even if by chance I didn’t state I wanted a small, she should have clarified and asked instead of assuming.
She seemed annoyed to do the math for the price difference, and when she brought the money over, she just set it on the counter instead of handing it to me and walked away. The Frostys weren’t even filled all the way compared to the original mediums she originally brought over. My biggest issue is that she didn’t treat other customers this way—just me.
I don’t know what her issue is, but she needs to get over her bratty self. I bit my tongue because my kids were with me, but next...
