I live dead center between two Whataburgers. This one is a CONSTANT disappointment, and I ALWAYS regret going there, even when it's on the way to/from wherever else I'm going/coming from. When I'm going to a Whataburger from home, this is NEVER the one I choose to go to unless it's on the way to somewhere else that I'm going.
The service is the slowest of ANY place with a drive-thru within miles and miles that I've ever been to.
You could drive down Gessner to the other Whatburger and go through the line/drive-thru individually for each item about 6 times, AND THEN go all the way over to Freebirds over on Bunker Hill and get them to make you a burrito, and it would STILL be faster than ordering ANYTHING at this Whataburger when it's even slightly busy. That is NOT an exaggeration.
This Whataburger literally takes about 8-10 minutes per car in the drive-thru. I went to this Whataburger just now and it took 50+ minutes to get a regular Whataburger and a salad.
And to top it all off, the food isn't up to par. The food somehow manages to be inferior to every other Whataburger I've ever been to. Too much lettuce, not enough mustard/other sauces, and their chocolate shakes are outright liquid.
If you go to the other Whataburger on Gessner, they take about 1 minute per car, the food has the right ratio of toppings, enough sauce, they give you enough ketchup, their fries are usually better, and their shakes are SOLID - like ice cream.
The I-10 & Gessner Whataburger sucks. The only reason it gets 3/5 stars is because bad Whataburger is still Whataburger, which is still decent.

Read moreI came into this location today my order was placed at 10:21 am I didn't get my order until 10:55 am I walked in to place my order because my app wasn't working. However I waited almost 20 mins then I approached a manager lady that looked as if she's overwhelmed because of the backup. I said excuse me ma'am can I get an update on my order ? She said what's your name I tell her my name she then says rudely what did you have? I then hands her my receipt she then talk to one of the line workers preparing the food they had erased my order I never received it She never gave me my reciept As they were preparing my order I said ma'am I need my receipt As im waiting for my food still A guy manager start to prepare the order and then tried to give me fried that had been sitting since before I walked in to place my order I said to him I don't want those old fries!! He dropped new fries as I'm still waiting and customer decided to skip the line to tell the male manager he need to place his order immediately So that's what the manager did just skipping the line of people that was there That was very rude and unprofessional if him Finally I received my order and I left get to my car and the burger was cold SMH This has been the most unstable Whataburger I've been to!!! As a customer and food reviewer I came in on the 2/16/2023, Monday night MLK day, at approximately 11:20, 25PM ish to pick up my order. I notice 4 young men eating at the tables. Suddenly as I was paying for my Order a manager locked the doors EARLY. The Whatburger manager description is as follow: Young, African American female, petite with a bad attitude. She stormed from the back shouting she was locking the doors etc etc. My son with different personal issues panic, because he could not leave out the locked door. I asked the manager what time does the lobby closed. She stated we are 24 hours, but because they are short staff she decided to lock the doors early. I counted at least 4 people working including the manager...which is the usual number for most stores I have seen overnight. Also it was SUPER slow both in the driventhru and lobby. I passed by the restaurant 10 minutes later and it was still super slow. ..NOT a soul in the drive thru. I am disgusted by the unprofessionalism and corporate will be hearing from. I took pictures and recorded us being locked out before 12am.
