Al Salam Alaykom On 3/30/23 at approximately 13:00; I went into this store looking to purchase an Kufi. I entered the store and greeted the employee at the front register; I asked where can I find the Kufi’s and he told me that they were located in the back aisle. While searching through the Kufi section another employee rudely entered my personal space without acknowledging me or my friend. The employee pick up two Kufi’s from the ground and walked away. While he was walking away I asked if he was an employee because we needed assistance; he replied saying yes I’m am an employee and he proceeded to walk away without helping us. After making our selections we proceed to the front check counter. While at the front counter I noticed a book titled “The Reality of The Nation of Islam” After skimming through the book I found that it had bias language and views towards The Nation Of Islam and its teaching. Also I paid for four different colored Kufi’s as well as some Dates to ate after sunset because we are in the holy month of Ramadan. I noticed the receipt said the total price was $24 but I was charged $30 even after paying with cash. Going forward; I would not recommend this store to any American Black Muslim; there was no respect or appreciation given from any of their employees....
Read moreBefore you even enter, the old man makes you feel unwelcomed. He(thr old man) stood right by the entrance staring at us, whipped out his phone to get "backup" because hubs and i don't look like what he is used to in his circle. Embarassing for me to explain the stereotype of racism in Islam which definitely exists in the people ( just scroll down ans you'll see other unwelcomed customers based on what they look like) but hubs is a new Muslim and wanted to support the store in person again so i just sucked it up and went in. He, (the old man) is a test for sure. May the the Almighty, ya Mutakkabir, ya Sami, Ya Basir, Ya Hakam, Ya Adl, Ya Muzil, Ya Hayyu Ya Qayyum give him the same treatment always everywhere ameeen.
Edited to reply to the response frm bkstore to change rating and that we were there after 5:30-8pm : Subhanallah. Astaghfirullah br. After the bkstore, we dropped by Joann and this is all way before 5:30. We live more than an hour away and would need to be home for asr and that takes the same amount of time, if not, longer. (Take a look at the time on my Joann receipt) time . This was AFTER the bkstore. And its pretty much been answered why he called someone. He was racially profiling because he is a racist. Thank him for being the test that wakes us up a third...
Read moreAssalam Alaykum brothers and sisters. I've been coming here for awhile now since I converted to Islam and bought a variety of things like the hijab, niqab, posters, CDs, but mostly books. It's a large store with lots of things to offer (and even books in spanish, urdu, enlish, arabic) so I like to go in browse around and look at their new items. It's quite a bit of a drive for me, a good 40 minutes, but the brothers here are very welcoming and helpful. They give me tons of space and answer any questions, though I don't know anyone's name, there is a brother who's especially nice. I highly recommend the place for converts, born Muslims, and non Muslims. I also try to mention it to my friends as well as often as I can because I truly feel it is a customer friendly, welcoming place. Jazakallah...
