My cousin and I attended this bar on July 20, 2018. And we both walked away very impressed. And we plan on returning very soon to see if we have a similar or even better experience than our first time. I've read through a few reviews on here and I can't speak for everyone else but me and my cousin both have experienced racism in the past at so call "diverse" clubs. We've been profiled for having baggy jeans, shirts to long, no shorts, no tennis shoes, hell even by not being cleanly shaved. Only to see caucasians and Hispanics get in with the same clothing and appearance we were just denied from getting in. Even been harrassed by security officers or told by bouncers if we want to get in we can pay extra to get in. All of these reasons played a part in me not attending bars/clubs for years unless it was a family occasion or party. So I'll be lying if I said I wasn't a bit nervous approaching the front door to present my ID to the doorman thinking to myself "here we go again". Only to walk up greet the door man (which he aknowledged and greeting me back) and present my ID and walk in with no issues at all. There were also 2 police officers next to the entrance who were engaged in conversation and didn't interfere with the door man at all. My cousin and I entered the establishment and immediately was impressed with the many beautiful women of ALL races attending. And just how diverse the club was. We didn't get any ugly stares or get the feeling of being unwanted or out of place. The bar staff was nice and we wasn't harassed by any bouncer/security about dress code or anything. We even noticed a few biracial couples that appeared to be enjoying themselves even african american couples appearing to be enjoying themselvs having fun. We showed up at around 12:00am and stayed until 1:40am. I also like how the DJ played a bit of hiphop after a long stint of country songs. Wasn't expecting this because hey its a country bar/club. I decided to try out Whiskey River after a friend of my uncle spoke highly of it and recommend we try it out after his nephew and family enjoyed themselves there. And not that its worth mentioning. But with the few reviews I read crying wolf about the establishment being "racist". My cousin and I both enjoyed ourselves even though we were only there a under 2 hours. I can't speak for everyone or even say that those reviewers were lying about their experience here. My cousin and myself are both African Americans and we had a blast. Every staff member we came into contact with greeted us and had great customer service. I hope when I return soon that I'll have the same experience or even a better one. Because I sure planning on learning how to 2 step and boot scoop boogying while meeting beautiful women. 👍🏽👍🏽👌🏽 great place based on my...
Read moreI started going here when I was 21 with groups of friends. It was a regular spot from our high school graduates to come drink and hang on Thursday nights when it was a younger and hip Hop crowd. We would go almost every single weekend. This was about 10 to 12 years ago.
I don't feel like the place has changed just ourselves. I have gone as an older adult in my late twenties on those Thursday nights. Thursday nights are more hip hop mixed in with a young to mid-20s crowd. Friday nights are a little bit more mix of some older and younger crowds and ladies night. Saturdays are perfect if you are a couple. Now in my 30s and wanting to avoid crowds, we go earlier around 8:30 so we get more use of the dance floor dancing with a significant other. Around midnight no matter what night you go, it is so packed you almost cannot dance at all. If you're young that's probably great, as an older person go early, sign up on Instagram or go on Facebook and get the code word so you can get in for free, take advantage of those early bird drink specials, get your dancing in and leave before it's so packed you can't.
If it's freezing outside and after midnight forget about it. You won't be able to move at all inside it'll be to packed.
Overall, we love the atmosphere. The music whether it is hip hop or country is perfect to dance to. We've never had a problem with her drinks even though of course they've gone up in price over the years. I'm so sorry that some people on here have had bad experiences. This place seems to offer a wide variety of groups young and old and a mix crowd you just have to pick the time that's best for you.
*Thursday is young people night and hip Hop *ladies night *couples and older people *sign up on Instagram or find the code on Facebook to get in free before 10:00. Must do this before going not after being turned away according to other reviews. *When in doubt, wear jeans with no cut-offs *boots or flats, avoid sandals *take advantage of drink specials. Don't put your drinks on a table. Know when you order them you will be holding them until they're finished cuz there's nowhere to put them. Do not use a table with a reserved sign for any reason.
Highly recommend fun place! But those...
Read moreDo not come here unless you are willing to risk being assaulted. Never in my life have I ever been kicked out of an establishment. To make matters worse. Out of 25 people, none of us can figure out what would cause them to do this. Last Saturday was my birthday and it was me and 8 other friends, including another group of 15 friends. After reading past reviews, I should have seen that this place has a knack for kicking people out without cause or justification. Me and this wonderful lady I met that night were by the bar buying drinks when an employee and police officer decided to walk up and tell both of us we had to leave. I complied without hesitation. As we were walking I turned my head just to ask if they will tell me why when we get out. The employee said yes. The clear discrimination was apparent when we walked by the lady's friends and they pulled her to their group. After a brief discussion the police officer allowed her to stay, but said I still have to leave. When I was outside, the employee said something to the door man and left. I asked the doorman why they didn't tell me why I was kicked out. Then 3 police officers decide to assault me behind my back. They also did not tell me why they were doing this. They simply asked for my phone and proceeded to dial my friends at which point they let me go. I still have the scars on my wrist. Whiskey river you have a lot of nerve, when everyone including both groups of my friends saw no reason for us being kicked out. No one should visit here. It is more of a mafia than anything. Unneeded assaults on a paying customer is liable to have legal ramifications if you do this to someone more financially well-off...
