Mambo Seafood — Restaurant in Houston

This is just on my experience. We went here for dinner, wanted to try this location since it was new and my sister in law said it was good when she came. We are a family of 5, it was busy but was still seated pretty fast. So it took about 10 to 15 minutes before we got our drink order taken. We gave our food order at the same time since we were already waiting for a while. We'll what followed was a train wreck. We ordered a large mambo rice with chicken, the grill shrimp skewers, a salad with grilled chicken and a hamburger not cheeseburger, very simple. After about another 15 minutes, my son got his shrimp and my wife got her salad. She was disappointed because her piece of chicken was tiny and they gave her a small side salad. She says that at the location by her job she orders the same thing and they give her a good sized portion of salad. They brought my sons burger shortly after but with cheese. I told them we had asked with no cheese so they took it back. Like 5 minutes later, still waiting for our rice at this time, they bring the burger, I lifted the bun and saw they had scraped the cheese off, it was very noticeable, so they took it back. We noticed that we were not given any utensils and we had to flag down a bus boy to bring us some. Another 10 minutes passed and we finally got the rice. At this time my wife went to go ask about the burger, manager, I suppose, told us that she was sorry they were busy and the kitchen was backed up so they were going to take the burger off of our check. After about another 10 minutes they bring the burger, I cut into it and it's still raw inside. We showed the waitress, told her we don't want it anymore we've been here over an hour at this point, told the bus boy if he could call the manager for us and told him why. I can only guess that she was embarrassed because she wouldn't look our way and didn't bother coming to talk to us anymore. She told the waitress to tell us that we didn't have to pay anything because of the issue with the burger. That was not our intention to get it for free, we were going to pay, but I'm glad they took ownership of the mistake. I'm putting to stars because of that. But overall we were poorly attended to by our waitress throughout the whole time there, the rice was good but don't know why it was the item that took the longest to get to us, that is what they are known for, I would think they would have that on hand ready to go. My wife and son did enjoy their mangolada drinks. This is the first location that has been this bad of an experience. Don't think we will be coming back...

Our experience at this place was horrible, we have visited other places but we never had such an unprofessional experience from the waitress and her assistants, on 10/11/2025 we went to eat and at first everything was fine but it took more than 30 minutes to bring the food, when they brought it the rice was hard and half hot and a tamarind water was hot and with little ice, my husband's fish with the oil dripping since he use napkins to absorb the grease, we did not say anything we were very hungry my husband drank a michelada at first he wanted another then they never stopped to ask if we were okay or if we needed anything else I had to tell someone else on the staff who did not serve us to please serve another drink to my husband who was already super angry, we finished and wanted to pay and nothing appeared the waitress so we got desperate and got up we went to the register and paid and with the shame of not leaving a tip which I never do wherever we go we always thank in that way The service they give us when we're served, but in that case, I agreed with my husband. If I remember correctly, it was table 65, and we went in the middle of the afternoon. And the worst part was that the cashier was on the phone with her back to the customers, and we also had to wait because another woman came to ask if we were being served; otherwise, the cashier wouldn't have noticed. Our experience with the person who served us was terrible. I don't want to think that our own race discriminated against us because we're Hispanic. They need to pay attention to customer service. The hostess Brittany made it seem that we were unwelcome here with her attitude and vibe. The job of a hostess is to welcome you smile seat you make you feel welcomed and comfortable. I had a family of 6 (one toddler) and she tried seating me in a corner near the brick. When asking her if we can move to another table she told denied my request stating that we had to sit at this specific table for the server. I then told her I felt like I would be squashed and no longer wanted to just basically dine in she then told me we could move to the end table. Our server Miguel was amazing though. I hate that my experiance with Brittany almost ruined my experience with Miguel. He was a very attentive, checked in multiple times and our food was amazing. Might not visit this location again. It’s closer than the other location but I feel more friendliness and welcomed at the other location. Server Miguel was perfect! 100/10 service very welcoming, friendly, sense of urgency!...
