Our stay at this property failed to meet my expectations. We stayed at the property from the afternoon of 7/8/21 until the morning of 7/11/21.
When I booked, the website indicated that my room included breakfast. When we arrived at the hotel, we were informed that there wouldn’t be breakfast in the breakfast area but that only a grab & go breakfast would be available between I think 6am- 9am. When I asked about this at around 8am on our first morning, I was informed that no grab & go bags were available. I was told that the manager had gone to get more, but staff didn’t know when he would be back. After further inquiry I was told that staff had prepared some breakfast bags for us. I was given 4 paper sacks, each containing a pack of 2 pop tarts, a Great Value br& cereal bar, & a small bottle of grape juice. This was the only breakfast provided to me. We were traveling with 3 small children, & this type of breakfast is not what we paid for, nor was it sufficient to properly feed my family. I ended up going to the McDonalds down the road to get breakfast for my family, & we made other breakfast arrangements for the remainder of our stay. The biggest issue with this whole situation is that I was not told to expect this before we began our stay. If I’d known there would be no hot breakfast, or at least a continental breakfast as was pictured online, we most likely would’ve stayed at another hotel.
Also, the website indicated that the hotel featured an indoor pool, which we planned to use during our stay. During our stay at the property, the hotel’s electronic message board by the road stated that the hotel featured a 24-hour pool. However, when we arrived we were informed that the pool would only be open from 3pm-10pm, & that no more than 10 people could use the pool at one time. Had we known about this, again we likely would’ve stayed at another property.
The hotel also maintained a safety hazard in their luggage carts. After arrival, my small daughter sat on the luggage cart at one point. As she got off, to the best of our knowledge, she got a several inch-long cut on the back of her leg. It began to bleed, & it required us to go to the store for ointment & bandages for her. Upon inspecting the edge of the cart platform, there were several pieces of sharp metal exposed that could easily cut someone’s leg. As far as I can recall, I informed the staff about this, but to the best of my knowledge, nothing was done to fix or remove the cart.
The door to one of our rooms (313) didn’t seal properly. There was a sizable crack around the door even when it was closed & locked which allowed light & sound into the room. This gap would only close fully if the safety latch on the upper half of the door was applied. I shouldn’t have had to do this to have a properly closing door. This was reported to the front desk upon our arrival, but no repairs were attempted during our 3 night stay, to my knowledge.
I found a straight pin & a sewing needle stuck in the carpet of one of our rooms (311). Apparently these had been left there by a previous guest & not picked up by housekeeping. Fortunately I found these before I or my wife or one of my small children was stuck by one of them.
Also, The phone on the bedside table in Rm 311 didn’t work, The soap dish in Rm 313 was missing, The clothes hook on the bathroom door of Rm 313 was missing, The clothes bar in the closet of Rm 313 appeared dirty (or rusty), The stopper in the tub in Rm 311 did not work properly so the tub would not hold water as it should’ve during a bath.
Those are the problems I can recall, but as you can hopefully see, the hotel didn’t provide appropriate communication about its limited features (breakfast/the pool); it had safety hazards (the luggage cart/the needle/pin); & rooms had broken features. All of this provided a most unsatisfactory experience, & I feel I did not get what I paid for. I will not be able to recommend this hotel or La...
Read moreWe stayed here last year and had a very good experience. This time, we have a few complaints. After being told there were no more do not disturb signs, we told the front desk and the housekeeper, personally, that we didn't require maid service on day 2 of our 3 day stay. They came in anyway while we were out. Last night (night 2), when we got back after dinner, our keys had been deactivated. The front desk apologized and promised it wouldn't happened again. Today, on check out day, the housekeeper knocked on our door just after 8. Never in all our many hotel experiences has housekeeping tried to clean right BEFORE you check out! Weird. My husband was down getting coffee (while housekeeping was knocking) and when he returned, his key had been deactivated again. After breakfast, mine was deactivated. Then, after we got back to the room around 11 after running some errands, his key was deactivated for the 3rd time. FRUSTRATING! The front desk really wasn't too concerned about all this inconvenience. Between us, we made 5 trips back to the front desk to get our keys working. Other things of note, breakfast wasn't nearly as good as in the past. Hot stuff was kind of cold. No toaster appeared until we were leaving the first day. Coffee was not even close to hot. Had to ask for milk for cereal. Only fruit was apples. The microwave was on its last leg at breakfast. There was a blood stain on one of our pillows (not the case, the actual pillow). The shower is complex to work...I had to help a friend who was also staying here figure out how to work it. The bathroom is nice, tho. Roomy walk in shower, lots of counter space, and an incredible mirror. The bed is quite comfortable, but the covers are very thin. A blanket would have been wonderful. Nice flat screen hanging on the wall, so, easy to see. Small frig and microwave in the room. Nice desk and chair, and even a ceiling fan! One last thing...we went to dinner 3 minutes away, and there was a security car patrolling around and around the restaurant. We heard the reason is that this is a bad area. We had no idea. We felt safe enough in this clean hotel, but just glad our car wasn't messed with. Overall, this is a decent hotel for the price, and it's great that they're dog friendly, but all these little inconveniences made us unlikely to return. Did like the personal touch of a hand written note upon arrival, but management needs to step...
Read moreThis was the worst hotel experience ever. I arrived with my 3 kids for 5 night stay for Spring Break vacation. I reserved my hotel online months ago arrived on Tuesday at 3pm for check in and provide the front desk lady my ID and Credit card. She tells me sorry we don't accept "Discover" credit cards. What hotel doesn't accept DISCOVER??!?!! I was so upset because I drove 5 hours to this hotel with 3 kids in the car ready to relax in our hotel room. Then we go to the Indoor swimming pool area which was so dirty. Dirt literally piled up on the steps the water was murky and I pulled out a huge ball of hair floating in the pool because it was scarying my 3 yr old. We never returned back to the pool area and that was the #1 reason I chose this hotel due to the outside weather being chilly. After swimming my 2 daughters purchased a pint of blue bell Ice cream sold at the front desk. They asked the front desk lady for a spoon and she said they don't have any spoons. My daughter called me on the phone she put me on speaker phone and I asked the front desk lady if she could get a spoon from the breakfast room or the bar area and she said she doesn't have access to get a spoon....unbelievable no spoons available at the hotel. Very poor customer service. The cable TV went out and I called the front desk for assistance because the screen went blank flashing hdmi3 and she sad I'm not able to help and we have no one available that can help. The following morning for LaQuinta breakfast there was absolutely no meat of any kind. We ended up leaving 1 day early. We were so disappointed with the service at...
