China Star — Restaurant in Texas

Just got to Houston after a long, hot and challenging day. I just wanted to eat, shower and sleep. Tried China Star. The food: 1 star. It was hot when I picked it up. It was bland and sooo oily. As if they fried it in oil then poured some on top as well. Even the spring rolls. No crunch at all. More like soggy dough with barely anything inside. I also ordered spicy tangy chicken. No good. The service: My order was not completed as requested on the app. I was told that they completed it the way it appeared. The server looked again after I explained what I wanted and what I typed in. He then told me that I did type it in correctly but the system ran it all together (or something like that). Bottom line the food is not good in my opinion (bland and oily). Also, they refused to refund my money. They offered to add the missing vegetables to my stir fry and to e hands the tangy spicy chicken for some other kind of chicken but only tonight and they close at 10:30p. I explained that I could not get back up there by 10:30p but I could have someone come by tomorrow for the order and gift it to them as I am only passing through Houston tonight and leaving in the morning. They refused. Has to be tonight. Because of that I rate the service...

My friend invited me there this past Friday and OMG everything was so fresh. The ambiance was great not to mention the staff. Food was hot. The other guest were nice, very respectful. It wasn’t noisy. The place was very clean. Workers came out often to switch out food making sure it was hot . I will definitely bring my family back. Oh, I love the Hot and Sour soup! I tried everything they had and it was great. Yup, even the sushi! Even the crawfish was good and I’m from Louisiana(weren’t as spicy but they were really good and juicy). Many were there to enjoy the crawfish and fried crabs.

Con: The Ice cream would be the only thing I would change up. It looked brown and icy. Nothing like Mc Donald’s nor Burger King. But maybe it’s like that bc it’s homemade idk. The cones weren't fresh. I did see that many customers ate the ice cream, so apparently they liked it.

Very rude and unprofessional the lady that work at the front lied about the manger not being there after they messed up on my order. When I tired to call and speak to a decent person to let them know what’s going on with my food they kept hanging up the phone in my face and didn’t want to answer when I called back. And when I finally got someone on the phone they acted real dumb founded when I told them what’s going on. When I finally got a decent person on the phone after arguing with them for 2 hours they ask me to bring the food back so they can resell it that’s very nasty and unsanitary. How can resale some food that’s already been at someone house ? And I calling the health department on them because there’s no telling how many times they have have resale food to customers.
