Whit's Frozen Custard — Restaurant in Huntersville

I love whits. We used to order from this location multiple times since it’s near our house. However, the last 7+ times we’ve been in there, the kids working are rude, the place is disgusting, tables aren’t clean, restrooms aren’t clean, and their friends come in (like 3+ friends who aren’t working) and come behind the counter, talk to the staff, sit on the counters, go in the back room, and eat ice cream. We get the same order every time. My husband gets a chocolate malt with cheesecake bites, and I get a buckeye madness with extra Reese’s. The joke is “we never get the same thing every time”. Something in our order is always wrong. Either the ice cream is totally melted, they’ve left out ingredients, they do different cups, different sizes, wrong ice cream, etc. Tonight, we went in at 8:55, they were mopping the floors, say they close at 9 (online it says 10) and it’s grab and go only because they close early “when they get low on custard”. First time customer! This only missed a 5 Star rating because of the packaging. The Custard is amazing! The staff are helpful and friendly.

The custard I ordered came in a cup with a large plastic dome on the top. It was a hot day and with COVID we ate outside. The issue we all had was that tops didn't connect to the cup properly. Everything was leaking out and it really was a mess.

That being said, they fill the cup! Eat fast and no problem, cooler day and no problem. Hopefully it was just a bad batch or cups or lids. I will be back for sure but I'll be sure to get a stack of napkins next time.

There is a generous portion of frozen custard in the cup. It actually is heaped over the rim of the cup. Then a dome shaped lid is placed on top. I've had a lot of ice cream, gelato, etc...This was probably the BEST texture I've ever had! Super smooth and creamy! This was my first time and I didn't ask any questions so I wasn't 100% sure what to get. I ended up with a basic 2 scoops (chocolate & vanilla) with brownies and irish cream syrup. It was kind of messy at first with everything piled on top but it was good! Just had to mix it a little.

Price is reasonable. Plenty of options, fully customizable. Take home pints and other ready made treats are available. Definitely a must try!
