Why are there great reviews?? Maybe everyone went on a better day then we did I've lived around HB most of my life and decided to try here for brunch, sugar shack was closed. There were 2 waitresses working that morning and we got the one that didn't want to be there that day. Bland personality and took a while to get to our table for ANYTHING. Ordered fried clams for appetizers, they were decent. Myself and my husband ordered the same egg platter, his eggs sunny side up, mine over easy. When we got our food, my eggs were sunny side up. I informed the waitress that the eggs are wrong, I ordered over easy. She took my plate back and about 5 minutes later she came out and asked "how is over easy done?" NO LIE!! Shame on the cook for putting her in that position!! I explained and 10 minutes later I got my plate back. Egg whites were clear when I cut into it and at this time our waitress was gone. I didn't eat the eggs, I like my eggs a little more cooked then that, I couldn't stomach them. Decided to eat the toast. There's something very wrong when you use clarified butter on toast... it looks like oil was drizzled on it. The only thing I truly enjoyed was the Champaign... liquid...
Read moreThis reminds me of my favorite bar at home. The bartenders are friendly locals who know their stuff. The whole time I was there folks would walk by and say hi to them. One of the regulars got a promotion and everyone at the bar congratulated him.
The interior of the place is fun and thoughtful and even has a fish tank which I think kids would love. They’re kid friendly without coming at the expense of a cool bar environment.
I loved their food! I had oysters on the half shell, peel and eat shrimp and shrimp and crab soup. The oysters were shucked perfectly and had shredded horseradish which is my favorite. The peel and eat shrimp were perfectly cooked and the slaw served with it was surprisingly great. The soup was excellent. The Cadillac margarita was well executed as well.
I enjoyed sitting in their covered outdoor area which had an infrared lamp. It was cozy while still getting to enjoy some fresh air. My server was really sweet and responsive while also giving me space to just sit and enjoy my book. I highly recommend this place and I’m looking forward to...
Read moreMy boyfriend and I visited G’s Boat House yesterday. He ordered the fish & chips — the pieces looked large but were mostly batter, though he said it wasn’t terrible. I ordered the cioppino, which was a big mistake. Halfway through, I found a dead fly cooked into one of the shrimp. The bread that came with it wasn’t good either.
My boyfriend showed the fly to the waitress. We were calm and not trying to make a big fuss about it, as we understood it wasn’t her fault. She apologized and took the dish off our bill, and honestly, she was the only pleasant part of the experience (wish I remembered her name). Unfortunately, I ended up getting food poisoning from the stew and am currently home sick, missing a day of work. My boyfriend also isn’t feeling well.
A fair warning: we eat out all the time, but I never feel obligated to write a review. So here is my recommendation: don’t eat here. And now I also wish I took a picture...
