The top requirement for working at the smoothie shop was blending in. @janshealthbar has been a beach city staple since 1972, and now they have locations in Huntington Beach, Costa Mesa, Laguna Beach, Corona Del Mar, and Irvine. Love any time I get a chance to eat healthy - and for it to actually taste good. Their sandwiches are stacked up, and they have vegan bacon bits that add a pop of crunchy flavor that I loved. The peanut butter banana date smoothie is a savory sweet treat. You can also grab an aƧaĆ bowl, California bagel, breakfast sandwich - and it’s all items that aren’t going to make you feel bad after eating them. Grab bottled juices from their to-go section as well. Their food is all locally sourced, and they also do catering. Mmmmmmmm. Soooooo good! I was visiting my best friend who lives down the street. We wanted something fresh and healthy on this really warm day. And this was absolutely perfect. I had the crunchy kale wrap which I have been thinking about and craving since. She had the summer salad which is fresh, super generous and filling. We also had fresh pressed juices, and they were so good. Beet, apple, carrot, spinach and ginger is my favorite combination. Prices are reasonable for the freshness and quality. Great service. If you are in hurry, I suggest ordering in advance. Everything is made to order and the juices usually take the longest. I've been back every time I am in town. Love Jan's!

Jan's Health Bar is an eatery offering a decent selection of customizable healthy food and beverage options. I like the art on the walls. I like their seating arrangement outdoors. It's somewhat of an open space inside and outside. It's not really the space for someone looking to eat in a booth or a bit out of the way. It's optimal for someone looking for food to go. If you want, you can watch your order in process to completion. The employees wear masks when preparing orders. Thanks for providing such great customer service Jeff. God willing, in a potential future visit, a nutrition facts menu will be available.

I have been going to Jan's in HB following from place to place on Mainstreet for more than 30 years. I used to see Jan carrying in the boxes of fresh fruit and veg. I arrived home after living in london for 10 years and ordered my usual soy turkey sandwich with veg and avo. The Turkey slice used to be 8 ounces and now maybe 1.5 to 2 ounce, couldn't even cover the bread. I couldn't even taste it and they missed the sunflower seeds and bacon bits. I raised this and didn't care or show concern.

I told them that the turkey was so small I couldn't taste it and they said oh well this is what we serve. Jan as a child going to get a sandwich after surfing and chatting to you I am surprised you let the quality and portion ruined your good name that you worked so hard for.

I am sorry to say that because there are so many options I will have second thoughts about where I get my vegetarian sandwiches from. So disappointed and I was your biggest fan.

Reply: I am in shock with your response to my post. I can assure you that the portion size when Jan was managing the place was a 1/2 inch or more covering the bread and at least a half avocado.. I know what I ate throughout the years and had several conversations with her about how great her sandwiches were.

I am disappointed by the reply because it is night and day; furthermore from 1979 - through the years It was excellent and I could actually taste the soy turkey. I will go back to Costa Mesa, Laguna and Huntington beach to compare. I will take pictures and give a follow up review. I want the customer to get what they pay for and because you turned this into a chain, COG's seems more important to turn a bigger profit and yesterday I didn't see value for...

I’m a HB local and I really enjoy Jan’s but today I was very disappointed in their customer service and their accusing attitudes in regard to getting our card stamped for our purchases. Ridiculous really. My understanding of the ā€œruleā€ is each separate $5 or more purchase qualifies for a ā€œstampā€ on your Jan’s card. There were four of us each making our own separate purchases (3 of them were my out of town guests) so we thought we’d just use my stamp card since they don’t live here instead of being wasteful and starting 4 new cards. I guess that was too complicated of a concept. Long story short the young ladies and the MANAGER were weirdly rude and even accusatory about the situation when one of my guests went back up bc she didn’t get a card stamp. She actually had to say ā€œI’m not lyingā€ while they stood their staring at her as if she was trying to rip them off. I personally don’t see the difference between 4 cards vs 1 if you paid good money for your items. Honestly, the most annoying thing about the situation is once again the lack of quality customer service and the fact that they made us feel like we had done something wrong instead of just smiling and saying, ā€œHey, let me get you a new card for your purchase!ā€. ...

If you are vegan or have allergies, please avoid this place. Informed the employee that my son had a dairy allergy as a precaution and ordered an item made with almond milk (all the ingredients were listed on the menu). As soon as my son started eating it, he experienced a strong reaction and his throat started closing up. Went back and asked if they put something in his meal that contained dairy. They responded that they "don't use almond milk anymore" as stated on the menu (listed on the menu board on the wall right by the register), instead they substitute almond with whole milk! It would be so easy to correct the menu, or pay attention if someone mentions that they have an allergy, but they choose not to do that. I asked if they could prepare a different menu item for my son who was crying, and the manager was reluctant due to there being a $1 difference in cost between the two items?! Unbelievable. No remorse or compassion for causing an allergic reaction, due to their laziness and their mistake. After I insisted, they did in the end make something for him, but I would never visit this place again! You can't trust that they use ingredients listed on the menu and they...
