5 stars across the board. 1st time here. I came here because my families go to chicken place on the corner of Pacific & Clarendon in Huntington Park was closed at 6 when Google said 7. Boy am I glad they were closed! My husband wanted Beef teriyaki for dinner. I am glad I stopped in to check it out on a random Wednesday evening. I ordered a Beef and a chicken bowl . I guarantee that this is no bowl. It is an entire container. I could barely finish half of the container and I am absolutely stuffed. I have lunch and maybe dinner for tomorrow. I also ordered a crispy sushi roll with crab tempura shrimp and avocado and a basic California roll. The rolls were delish filled with fresh ingredients. The prices are very reasonable for what they serve. If my Husband (big eater) is not eating 1 "bowl" can feed 2 maybe 3 people. The inside is very nice and calming and the Gentleman taking the orders (at around 6:30pm) was very kind and informative. We will definitely return when we are in the mood for teriyaki and to try the other dishes that...
Read moreSome of the best, tastiest, freshest Asian food I've had in a long time. I ordered the spicy chicken (which was more sweet than spicy, but that's great for me), beef fried rice, sweet & sour pork, California rolls and bottles of Mexican Coca-Cola for us. Each dish was incredibly flavorful, the portions were huge, and the sweet & sour came with a bowl of FRESH ponzu sauce. I was blown away with the quality of this place. The environment was also clean, of modern styling, and well-arranged to fit the fairly small space. I would not have ordered all that food if I knew the portion sizes in advance, because the party was so full that we had to take home to-go boxes. The owner was very professional, prompt, and served with a smile. I flew nearly 2,000 miles to help a friend move and picked this place out of a list of 12 possible, highly-rated Asian restaurants before I left LA. DO NOT PASS UP THIS PLACE! AKAI is an awesome local spot. I will have to come back someday and for that Tonkotsu...
Read moreI got a Chicken Bowl and it was $15. It was pretty good. Might not be for you if you dislike the smell of garlic. It was a big serving of food and pretty filling. One order could probably feed 3 or 4 people. Take out box didn't have dividers or separations so you really do get quite a lot.
Got 2 free sushi rolls. Not sure which one it was but I think it was one of the spicy ones. I normally hate avocado but it was free so I ate it and it wasn't a problem. It was good and the presentation was cute I think. Forgot to take a picture before I started eating so that picture is not exactly how it was served.
Employees seem very nice and were overall very welcoming and not intimidating. Lots of smiles which is nice to see. The restaurant looked pretty clean and the dishes for dine in looked nice too. Fit their aesthetic and those portions looked pretty...
