Last night my husband was super excited about going to norms only to be disappointed. The service started out good. Drinks were brought. Lemonade was great. The waitress came over took our order. she seemed nice. Utensils were placed on the table. Upon looking at them we discovered they were dirty. We pointed it out to our waitresses and it seemed like she got irritated with us. She replaced a few of the utensils. We looked at them and those were dirty too. Then we brought it to her attention again and instead of bringing us clean utensils she brought us plastic utensils. Mind you three of us ordered steak. How do you cut a steak with a plastic butter knife? Seemed she might have had more sense then that. We had six orders. Some were brought out in a timely manner and some were not. First we got our soup and salad. It wasn't that bad. Next came the mozzarella sticks. She brought no sauce for them. Had to ask her for sauce. Had to ask her for steak knifes that were clean. When she brought them they were wet and still dirty looking. Then she brought out the rest of the food after we waiting for a while. I ordered my steak medium well. It was well done. It was over cooked and dry. My sister ordered hers well done. It was raw inside. Sent it back and it was brought back burnt. My daughters steak was burnt on the bottom and dry. The steak needed salt, pepper and butter. Steak 101. It was nasty the steak sauce did not help. We couldn't even finish our steaks. My daughter started to cry and refused to eat hers. The bake potato loaded was okay . We had to ask her for sour cream and butter because she brought none after we clearly told her we wanted them. My husband got his pancakes late. She brought no syrup. We had to ask her for that too. She had a nasty disposition about her self. It's not our fault the orders were dry, burnt and raw, and tasted like they were reheated in a microwave. It's not our fault the utensils were dirty. We paid for our food asked for the managers two people said they were in the back. Our waitresses said they left with a smirk. She did not apologize at all for anything. Which shows me she doesn't take pride, nor like her job. She don't care about the customers having a good experience. Don't think I will ever return. All she had to was apologize and at least made us feel like she cared, but she did not. That is why we left no tip. Hopefully these issues...
Read moreMy husband and I went to Norms today for the very 1st time. There was a short wait we got seated right away our hostess was pleasant. Then our server Jose an older person came and he was not very warm or friendly. I hate to bring race into a but my husband and I were the only African American people in the restaurant. I don't know if he had a problem with us being black or if he is just rude and dismissive all the time but he never once came to our table to ask us how we were doing, I have never ever had a dining experience where I was not checked on or ask if everything was OK...not once did he ask! Initially when he took our order he did not offer anything on the menu we explained it was our 1st time there we ordered a breakfast that came with hash browns or fruit, toast or pancakes and we just had to figure it out for ourselves which in itself is not a deal breaker but he was just a terrible server. When the food did come he tried to drop off our plates and run off I had to stop him because my eggs that I ask for over medium were over easy and too runny then he came back with well done eggs 🙄. The silverware at our table was dirty and of course our server was nowhere to be found so we asked a another server who was putting silverware on the table next to us if she could bring us fresh utensils and she was also rude. Eventually we had to ask a hostess for a refill for the drink and a host for a to go box because once again Jose my supposed server was very obviously avoiding our table. The host (name started with an L) that got us our to go box and the hostess (name stared with a Y) that got our refills were both very nice and very pleasant other hostess and servers besides the two that I spoke of seemed very nice and very pleasant but that is not enough for me to EVER come back and spend another one of my hard earned dimes at another Norms location I was highly disappointed and felt humiliated and it was overall a terrible dining experience, if not thee absolute worst I've ever had in my 45 years of living. All I can say...
Read moreI spent the first 18 years of my life in this Norms. After 30 years, I'm close enough to return to this location and bring my husband. Don't get me wrong, we eat at other Norms locations, but this one is special. For starters, it's one of the original locations, so it has the 50's atomic architecture. Always crowded. I love sitting at the counter and watching the line cooks do their magic. This location has the griddle in the front, so you can watch them fry up the steaks, make pancakes, and the big rectangular hash browns. See the pictures. They'll make your mouth water. I ordered the TBone steak and Shrimp. The best thing about Norms is you get the soup AND the salad. The soup today was Albondiga, which was delicious. Something about their Blue Cheese dressing that will make you dream about it at night. When the steak and Shrimp arrived, I immediately went for the baked potato. Who was I to resist these two dollops of whipped butter staring at me from the split innards of this spud? I was so full from the soup and potatoe, that I packed up the Steak, Shrimp, and Salad. Just finished eating it for dinner. Yummy! The steak is 3/4lb and the shrimp are sizeable. Last time I got the Porterhouse and I think I like it better than the TBone. The customer service is good. It's busy, so the wait staff run around a lot. They chat as much as they can with customers. Big parking lot in the back. Can't...
