4 stars. Yea. I know. But, it isnt as good as the one in Fultondale. Ive had about everything on the menu at that location and have eaten there more times than I can count. A couple years back I was goin multiple times a week. It was easy to say that it was my favorite place to eat on my way to work. So, I was absolutely ecstatic to find out that a Full moon had opened here in Huntsville! Everything was good that I got tonight. The pork wasn't up to par though. Maybe have the fultondale team come and help if they haven't already? Or it might just take time since its new equipment and for the flavors to show through in the pits and smokers. Overall though, it was still really good and we will definitely be back. Fix the pork though. Please. It was a bit dry. I dont want my good memories ruined. Haha. But the chocolate pie was just as good as ever and the ribs were quite nice. Great flavor. Not a tough chew to them like some places ribs. Sauce is a bit spicy but it is expected. Full moon has been using it forever. Next time I will be seeing how the smoked wings stack up. :) oh, and this time I got the big baker with pork, chocolate pie, and 2 bone rib sandwich. Lots of food leftover which is always a good thing with full moon. Give it a try. If you read this far, you are already invested enough to warrant a drive over there to try it. And just to be clear. I do not work there. Never have. I just love the food. Haha. Crazy right? And I would add pictures, but the picture perfect plates got torn to pieces in seconds. Sorry not sorry. Take pictures of your own plates....
Read moreI have come here multiple times and the food is almost always good, but the amount of times they mess up my order is absurd. About 6 or 7 times they have given me the wrong food or not included something totally. This I was able to over look, but tonight that has changed forever. I went through the drive through and the man on the intercom was very nice and jolly while taking my order, but the second I pulled up to the window, he looked at me like he was disgusted and was very rude. When he handed me my drink and card, it’s almost as if he was pushing/shoving it into my hand. Sort of forcing me to take it from him before I had a chance to grab it out of his hand. Every time I said thank you, he wouldn’t respond. When he handed me my food, he shoved it in my face, almost inside of the window of my car, I said thank you, but by the time I had turned around, he had completely slammed the window shut and walked away. Not only was he incredibly rude and forceful, but he got my order wrong. He gave me someone else’s food and left one of my items out. So that is now the 8th time my order has been wrong. I will make sure I tell my piers not to waste their time getting food here. It’s just not worth it. The Birmingham location is...
Read moreI'll admit I'm biased; having grown up on Big Bob Gibson's BBQ (10 times world champion pulled pork) and Chuckwagon (best Texas-style BBQ in the South), I know what exceptional BBQ tastes like. Hard as they try, Full Moon just doesn't make it.
The ribs, while generous in size, lacked smoke; the sauce was pleasant but unremarkable. The brisket was very juicy and tender, but also lacked smoke. The fried okra was actually tasteless, and their slaw was overly complex (was that pickled red bell pepper?) and nowhere near tangy enough for a vinegar slaw.
The worst offender was the broccoli baked potato, which was topped with overcooked broccoli. When there's no texture, and all you can taste is the sulfur compounds, throw them out. Raw is better.
This was a first try with Full Moon; I'm willing to go back and give them another try, so I'll update this review after then.
UPDATE: I went to the restaurant and ate dinner there. The food seemed improved; it's possible that it just doesn't travel well when delivered. I certainly appreciated the decor, as the walls are papered with a massive mural of college football coaches and players. The restaurant is clean and well-lit, and the staff...
