FOOD The food was great. Whoever was in that little kitchen was talented, and everyone loved their breakfast. The cook kept the traditional IHOP style, but it might have been better. This is why they get a 2 star instead of one.
ATMOSPHERE Upon arriving, I was absolutely sure that I'd entered through the kitchen. I was incorrect and correct at the same time. The waiting area is basically the kitchen. I've seen this set up at Waffle House, but it was unsettling at IHOP and particularly because the separation between various customers and your food is nearly non-existent. The poor soul on the far right side of the kitchen have the pleasure of viewing inside the bathroom when it's open, and of course, they would get a whiff of more than breakfast. My table was clean, although it wasn't stocked with the usual amenities of other IHOPs such as syrup, napkins, or Tabasco sauce.
SERVICE Wow, let me count the ways.... Being confused as I entered the waiting/ kitchen area seemed to upset some staff for some reason... or maybe that's the normal demeanor, not sure. After seated, my waitress seemed bother by me looking reviewing the menu too long, not normal, personal stuff bothers people sometimes and customers can become the outlet. Once I noticed that my drink wasn't being refilled, as she stood behind the register area looking at me, I realized this place was DIFFERENT. When our food arrived, it was dropped on the table hard and slid... like feeding pets outside. I questioned my guests if they noticed it, and they asked, "Did we do something to her?" If not for the sercive, it might have seemed quaint, but it was just terrible.
I wasn't going to post about this negative experience there, but a friend of mine got the sam experience with bad food. So, with inflation causing restaurants to charge much more than they've ever charged customers before, it's important to let people know what they'll be paying for in advance. It's not right to charge more, serve less, and treat worse like some places are...
Read moreBest chicken sandwich I've ever had!
After many years of ordering chicken sandwiches in basically every major chain in the US and Mexico, I tried the new buttermilk crispy chicken sandwich here, and it blew them all out of the water.
The buttermilk crispy chicken was the perfect width, size, taste, and crunchiness. That, along with the sauce it comes with, white cheddar, crispy bacon strips, pickles, tomato and lettuce (which were all evenly spread), and with some ketchup and no onions, for personal preference, made for a heavenly sandwich. Very decent size as well.
The fries it came with were the perfect thickness, seasoning, and crunchiness as well.
The other things we ordered (pancakes and stuffed French toast), and the service, were also great, as expected.
Haven't ever commented on anything before, but this had to be said. Best lunch I've had in a while. Got out of there really full and with no regrets (even though I try to not eat too much, it was too good not to...
Read moreAll employees seemed to absolutely hate their job. We never recieved a smile and hardly had any time to talk with our waitress. Most of the waitstaff was all upfront talking and not talking orders so the ones that were, were extremely busy. I wanted to change my drink but was given another before I finished it (it was a coffee drink. I wanted water or something less sweet) and before I could catch her she left. She didn't even check on us or see if I even liked what I had. She did this 2 times. I never even touched the 3rd one. The only time our waitress asked if we needed anything was when she brought out our food and once as she was walking by. LITERALLY. She didn't stop and I almost couldn't tell her. She then stopped because I DID need something, we hadn't been able to talk to her for our entire meal. The only reason I gave 2 stars at all is because I love pancakes and at least the cooks in this IHOP can do something great. However, I will NEVER...
