Nickel Plate Beach is a fantastic destination for a fun-filled day by the water! While swimming and tanning are always options, the beach offers so much more to keep you entertained.

Thrill-seekers can rent kayaks, paddleboards, and other watercraft, while those seeking a more relaxed experience can enjoy a picnic on the grassy field, complete with grills, picnic tables, and pavilions. The playground is perfect for keeping the little ones entertained, and the volleyball net provides a fun activity for all ages.

For the adventurous, the pier offers a scenic hike with breathtaking views. While the path can be steep and rocky in some areas, the reward is a secluded beach at the end, perfect for beachcombing.

The beach also offers convenient amenities like beach showers to rinse off the sand and porta-potties. While there are no changing rooms, the showers provide a refreshing way to clean up before heading home.

The $6 parking fee (or $40 annual pass) is well worth it for the numerous amenities and activities available. Plus, you'll receive a BOGO ice cream cone coupon for a local shop with each visit, adding a sweet treat to your day.

Overall, Nickel Plate Beach is a delightful spot to soak up the sun, enjoy the water, and create lasting memories with friends and family. With its wide range of activities and amenities, it's the perfect place to experience all that summer...

Great alternative to Cedar Point, Kalahari or other area water activities locations in light of COVID-related concerns regarding indoor activities.

Great beach tucked away in a residential neighborhood. $6/car parking charge during the day, appears to be free entry starting at some point late in the day. Well-kept beach with picnicking space, 1 shelter, grills and plenty of space. No lifeguards on duty, but water depth drops off very gradually to create a safe experience needing only basic attention to your kids. Gift Shop/Rentals/Snack bar on site, pricing is acceptable considering the distance to other options. Worth a stop; Possibly the best beach experience between Toledo and Cleveland.

Google Maps directions to this beach are excellent. Remember that the speed limits through the neighborhood leading to the beach are 20 mph or less.

Pro Tip: Your $6 parking ticket can be redeemed for a FREE small custard cone with any purchase at the Pied Piper custard stand located out on Rt. 6 in the same neighborhood. Use Maps for...

The FLY'S will hunt you. Once they get a taste of your flesh, it's all they want! They will circle you, taunt you, land on you as a diversion, because as you smack at it (and miss), it's other squad members flank from behind and take out your legs. Then as you're fighting to save your legs from being eaten alive, one lands on your face. Now, as your anxiety is peaked, and your determination to live is beyond anything you have ever felt, you swing full force at the fly on your face. As your fist lays into your face at full force, you notice the fly out of the corner of your now bloodshot eye, it's taunting you, because now you realize that the light is fading out and you are losing consciousness. The flies have won. You will now be eaten alive. And the only memories of your existence will be in the minds of the poor kids who found you covered in flies, helpless, laying on the beach. But other than that, it's a very fun place. I'll be...

It's actually a pretty nice sandy beach. A little debris on the beach which for me isn't a big deal. It's natural and it's nature. It's pretty wide but short beach which can get a bit crowded at times. $6 for parking. Nice clean bathrooms with shower on outside for rinsing off sand. There's a playground on the beach for young children and a restaurant close by for grabbing drinks and snacks. The water was nice and clear. You can walk out in the water a good distance and it's still by your hips and I'm 5"4 in height. No rocks, just sand so no need to wear water shoes when venturing out in the water. Very sandy and easy on the feet. Nice walking path close by the water if you want to take a stroll. I'd recommend this place for a nice day on the beach for yourself or with family. No pet's allowed on the beach.

Looked clean to me. The kids had fun. Nice beach, lots of sand, some sea glass if you search, porta pottys were typical porta pottys. There's a changing room. There was a lady selling hotdogs. I think there's a small concession stand to. Most of the people seemed nice. $5. Parking. Parking seems limited though. Playground equipment on the sand. There's a long stretch for easier access to the beach for a wheel chair or cart. Pavilion off the beach. Kayak rentals and floaty rentals. There were dogs on the beach and there were people grilling with their own grills. We loved it! I didn't see any kind of running water to rinse off or wash hands so bring some with you. The water and beach looked Clean, some plastic torn up but I didn't see broken glass.
