I was not impressed with my food or my waiter. I had the lunch fajitas. My rice was like barely on the cusp of starting to go rancid. Maybe not noticeable to most, but I couldn't eat it. This comes from mixing the new batch with the old batch for several days in a row, or from ignoring their food handler's training and not keeping the food above 140 or below 40 degrees. My grilled onions included the unchewable part of the outermost skin and stem so I had to pull it out of my mouth and put it chewed back on my plate or the table or waste my one napkin. The food was generally lacking in flavor. It was the only time I can ever recall having to salt my food in a Mexican restaurant. My waiter was a gray-haired short and skinny guy who was not real attentive or polite. He filled my tea a couple times but he never checked with me to see if my meal was okay and it seemed like I waited longer than one should to order, for my food, and for my bill. He had no semblance whatsoever of being happy to serve his customers. He was long-faced and his response each time I said thank you was to just turn around and walk away. When he saw that I didn't leave cash on the table, he hovered while I filled out my credit card slip at the register. I left him one dollar which was more than what I honestly felt he earned. I wouldn't recommend this place or go back unless it's where my coworkers decided on. It was not a good value for my 13 and half bucks. The hostess/cashier had cold, indifferent attitudes as well.
After posting I read the low rating reviews. Most said same as I said: flavorless food and unfriendly staff. If it weren't for their prime location, they would never make it. Place is old and needs a facelift but doesn't seem like anyone there takes pride in their place...
Read morePopped in on a Saturday afternoon with some co-workers hoping we could grab a few tacos between jobs. We were seated promptly, but that is where the service i have come to expect and appreciate from Pulido's (been dining here for over 30 years) ended. After nearly 10 minutes we were finally greeted with some water and chips and salsa. When we explained that we were on the clock and each of the three of us just wanted some tacos to go rather than dining in with an entree we were assured that it wouldn't take very long. Six chicken for one co-worker, 3 beef for another and 2 of each for myself, with sodas all around. After many assurances that our food would be right out it finally arrived, 43 minutes after we ordered, on plates for dining in. The tacos themselves weren't bad but neither were they anything above average. Then the check came and sticker shock would be an understatement. While there were several entrees on the menu that included tacos and were priced at $10-12, there was no offering of just tacos, but we certainly didn't expect to pay $4.25 per taco and $2 for a side of sour cream that was less than a tablespoonful. And our server couldn't have been more indifferent if he tried. Not sure when I'll go back, if at all, because while it is true that customer service and customer appreciation aren't nearly as regarded as virtues as they used to be, it is also true that there are several competitors in this area who I am sure would welcome the chance to earn my business. And...
Read moreWe went last night for the first time since they reopened. They have some work to do. The first issue was the sewer gas smell when you walk in the door. The new owners obviously spent a lot of money to renovate the building, so I fail to understand why they can't spend a little more on a plumber to fix whatever is causing that issue. Other reviews have complained of the same issue. Fortunately, we were seated in the back, and we couldn't smell the odor back there. The food was pretty good, although the ground beef in the tacos and enchiladas needs some seasoning. It was very bland. There is not a printed kids menu, but there are kids meals, you just have to ask the server, which is somewhat irritating. My son got the kids quesadillas, which was $6.99, which is a reasonable price, until we saw the $5.99 upcharge for the chicken he asked to be added. It was not anywhere close to $5.99 worth of chicken. They also need to fix the lights in the parking lot. The lights on the building work, but not the light poles. It's very dark away from the building. If not fixed, I have no doubt they will have vehicle break ins. Definitely some kinks that need to be hammered out here. We will watch the reviews and may try again in the future if other reviewers indicate improvements...
