I was staying at this hotel for a chess tournament. Obviously, sleep and rest is top priority for a hotel when at a chess tournament to rest my mind. We were placed in a hotel room where the people above us were very rowdy. Upon further investigations, it was a room full of kids with no adults in the room. Between the hours of 8 pm and 4 am, there was constant door slamming, yelling, and stomping. During the day the kids were running in the halls and in the room which could also be heard as well. The stomping and slamming doors actually made me scared for my safety as this was happening at sleeping hours so if it was not taken care of I thought I was in danger. We contacted staff twice, once at 12 am and another time at 4 am. We were told at 4 am that their parents came down recently and said they would take care of it. The parents did not take care of it, which ultimately shows a lack of concern for other hotel guests from the staff as they themselves did not address the problem directly. We requested a new room the next day which was met by the hotel being full as well as the staff telling us that they were aware of the problem but would do nothing about it. We did get a new room later that day which was good as the people apparently received two more noise complaints just that night alone from people around them. My stay was 4 nights but 2 of those nights at least were completely ruined by the noise as I was unable to sleep and perform my best at my very important chess tournament. We contact corporate also that morning but they just told us they could not do anything and it is all up to the staff of the specific holiday inn. When our room was moved, it was slightly better but still stomping could be heard in the halls. Overall, very disappointed in the staff as my lack of sleep greatly led to my unsatisfactory as well as poor chess play. I purposely went out of my way to book this hotel as I typically love Holiday Inn Expresses but this was not an encouraging experience...
Read moreI don't think I've given 5 stars to a mid-range type of hotel before, but they deserve it. I haven't been to an HI in years, after a horrible experience in one some 25 years ago, but the reviews for this place were on the whole much better than others near the conference center, so I thought I'd take a gamble. Starting with checkin, the guy at front desk -Cameron?- was great. He honored my request to be on the top floor away from the highway and this led to a super quiet night. ||Furniture and carpet were in excellent condition, no wear or stains, etc., and room smelled and looked completely fresh and clean. ||Bed was extremely comfortable. Very rare and welcome choice of firm or soft pillows on bed, even had embroidered cases indicating firm or soft. Nice! Sheets crisp and clean, not a single stray hair or lint.||Shower handle was a bit tricky to operate, probably why it had a huge label on it indicating how to use it, but plenty of hot water, good water pressure. Towels were all fluffy white fresh smelling- seemed new.||Only tiny issue was TV remote didn't seem to be working well, and although hbo was listed on channel menu, it wasn't available. Plenty of other choices though.||Breakfast was standard fare for this type of hotel. Hot choices were scrambled eggs, turkey sausage, the ubiquitous mystery gravy and DIY pancakes. Standard cheap yogurt and dry cereals. But the hot stuff was hot and cold stuff cold and all seemed relatively fresh.||There was plenty of parking and the price was right, but could be this is slow season. The highlight of the stay was a GREAT Italian restaurant right next door. ...
Read moreWas there for 1 night to catch a flight the next day. Room was comfortable except for no bathtub that I asked for; my fault for not checking first and trusting the staff knew their rooms.
Another issue I experienced was I requested a wake up call from the front desk. The gal at the desk at the time physically put in my request in the computer. Turns out I never got the wake up call and upon further discovery the phone in my room was broken.
Fortunately; I had other means to get myself up so that I could ensure that I made my 5 am flight to Colombia... Well upon checkout I reported this issue to the desk clerk and she said that I had 2 phones in my room. She basically told me indirectly that I was full of it and made no attempt to resolve this and was pretty rude about it to me... I could’ve missed my flight and I wanted her to understand that when we as guests request wake up calls; we should be able to depend upon the hotel service to come through for us. I hate micromanagers; but this is exactly how we create em.
I guess my biggest complaint is that I did not get a room with a bathtub that I asked for, I did not get a wake up call that I asked for, I was indirectly called a liar by the nite shift guest services female employee, and on top of that that same employee was completely rude to me when I attempted to bring this to her attention in a polite and courteous manner...
So no, I would not recommend staying here to...
