I am really disappointed with my order from this restaurant. I ordered through Door Dash and will be leaving a review there as well. I ordered Pad Thai with beef which is supposed to have bean sprout, egg, green onion and chopped peanuts. Well......... at Thai 55 my Pad Thai came with no bean sprout, no chopped peanuts and no green onion, rather the Pad Thai came with unadvertised shredded cabbage that had the resemblence and crunchiness factor but not the flavor of bean sprout once stirred in and it wilted a bit that lead me to believe that this restaurant advertises one thing but serves up another with sustituted and or possibly inferior ingredients ( plainly put CHEATING!!!! ) Additionally I ordered fried Chicken wontons and recieved fried pot stickers instead ???? My Pad Thai sauce had spilled all out and on everything and everwhere at the bottom of my plastic bag covering the napkins and plastic cutlery too. That in itself was a new one for me ......super over sauced Pad Thai ????? I have never experienced Pad Thai like this ( this is not meant in a good or in a complimentary manner) The Pad Thai was the most disappointing because there was no green onion at all not even on top, no bean sprout and no chopped peanuts instead they placed shredded cabbage and carrots on the dish. This was not what was described or what I thought I was paying for. You have to be careful ordering delivery because it seems that the restaurants take less care or don't care about the preparation of your food. This was disappointing to say the least. Upon calling back and inquiring about the missing ingredients I was told that they don't put in green onion and the chopped peanuts is already mixed in ????? When I said that green onion is on your online and Door Dash menu he then says "someone made a mistake " and he was right ✅️ it was me for wasting my time and money on this lackluster experience. I was so perturbed I didn't even ask about why I was sent potstickers instead of the fried wonton. The potstickers were tolerable the Pad Thai was TASTELESS greasy and the noodles were chewy and coated in a super sweet red pasty type sauce that was overpowering . I don't know what else to say but NO !!!!!! I couldn't eat it UPDATE 8-8-2023 Still NO Good !! My brother unbeknownst to me purchased me the Chicken Pad Thai. It was horrible and I immediately stopped after the first bite. I asked him where did you get this from not Thai 55 and he answered YES. The noodles are overcooked and the sauce is a red super sweet ketchup tasting flavorless concoction served with shredded cabbage a piece of lime and shredded carrot. I told him Thank you as I threw it in the trash where it belonged. Sad that this updated review remains unchanged.........well at least they are consistent with their lack of quality and dissappointment status

DONT BOTHER!!!!! Worst Thai food in the US. I called in a order yesterday evening for pickup...but eating pile of garden weeds would've been a better culinary experience. Lets go worst to best: Pad Thai w/pork- Whewww...what is my character limit? This was the worst excuse for Pad Thai I have every experienced. Please, for anyone reading this post take a look at the photo and tell me something right about the dish! It was extremely dry...so dry that the Thai noodles clumped together in one form. Zero sauce and remarkably bland. Zero heat, how is this Thai food? No Bean Spouts. No peanuts. Nothing but a bad time! Also I question if what was provided was actually pork in the dish. 0/10. Basil Fried Rice w/chicken- The rice...the rice...the rice <le sigh.> It was obvious that the basil fried rice was simply recycled chicken fried rice that was re-cooked with some basil. The rice was burnt, MUSHYYY, and THE BASIL WAS BURNT. A poor experience in every bite. Dunken Noodle- Immediately confused once I opened the container as nothing about the noodles were drunk or as I expected smothered in sauce, and there were hardly ANY noodles in the dish at all, and what was available were over cooked and thus mushy. The dish was mostly cabbage and other vegetables. The flavor was also VERY different from other Drunken Noodle dishes I've had in the past; it was extremely savory vs the sweet profile I've experienced in the past. The Baby Vegetarian Egg Rolls- more than likely previously delivered frozen but the flavor was nice. However, the egg rolls were sooo throughly soaked in oil that each bite was accompanied by a squirt of canola oil. Avoid this place.

I honestly can’t rate as I ordered from them through Ubereats for the first time today. But I can tell you I was very happy with the deal. They have a promo on ubereats buy one get one free for both the fried rice and potstickers . The fried rice was delicious the shrimp ratio to rice was overly generous. The only thing was for some reason although the fried rice came at a ready to eat temperature; I had to reheat the potstickers they were cold but once heated up they were also very tasty. I do plan on ordering from that again and trying different dishes. Hopefully my potstickers will come warm next time because they were yummy!

During the 80's I grew up in Hyde Park first introduced Thai 55 age 10 with friend & her older sister who took in '85, where I fell in love with shumai & Thai55, which I & family visited for decades until I moved out of state 10yrs, upon return now 14yrs back- I don't live in city & visit infrequently, but most if what I order (picky eater great tase buds various cultures) shumai, hit chilli beef/shrimp or squid, pad Thai, appetizers assume different Cook(?) Is made the same spices- freshness- portions of dishes for us (we've compared other Thai spots like 3wks ago Downers grove bad pad Thai sticky clumpy)- please name other places to try lol) have been the same- great. BUT like today 5 hours ago & nearly Each Time I've revisited the LEVEL.OF SERVICE by the SAME TWO ASIAN GUYS short glasses & taller guy (descriptives as I'm African AmerWoman) show Mild or Blatant lack of Interest (tho place Empty 1 customer had left) check on my "small Online Order 3 appetizers) placed 15 mins b4 arrival "he didn't seem to know ordered" AND the short one (used to be friendly) sat my bag on "pickup counter" disappeared- the Tall One goes register stands on his phone acting too preoccupied to hand "Prepaid Bag" 2 Only Customer in Small space by fish tank (!)- I start say "that's my order"- the shorter one strolls back- Hastily hands food (it dawned he put bag down & purposely left!) Acted annoyed I asked sweet sour! nearly 15- 20 mins after arrived way took long & repeat behavior I've seen several times a year by these Two. as I started return visits few times year 'glasses' was Cool- But Somethings Changed MORALE- SICK SAME GIG OR WHATEVER- BUT need to get it together because as thread shows others having share of negative things & many Competitors out here. Little do they know as young as I look (lol) my Adult Son's H.S. Friend Is the GRANDSON of the OWNERS & past visited /stayed over the Owners residence when friend lived with them. people of all Cultures have supported Thai55 over 30Years- You never know Who yu treat poorly- May be Time for new consistent cooks/ customer focused faces. I don't do reviews but after the "Again experience" I had share both sides with insight & credibility- Treat Customers Right- keep Food fresh- well portioned for those 1-2 Stars pple who havent tasted what Thai 55 known...

I WISH THERE WAS A ZERO STARS SLOT! HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!!! While enjoying my day walking through Hyde Park after a business meeting and some shopping, I saw Thai 55 and decided to give it another try. My first experience there wasn't so great. The satay chicken was super oily without any taste and the bathroom smelled like an outhouse. But hey, maybe they had a bad day....nope!

This visit was so disappointing and insulting I had to leave immediately! I go in and wait about 10 minutes before anyone says anything to me...and there were only 2 other people in the restaurant at 5pm. About 2 people less than the last time I was there, so that should have told me something. The female waiter came over while I was looking in my purse for my wallet and then walked away without taking my order. 5 minutes later after waiving another waiter down, a man comes over. I asked him if he had ginger tea, which is not normally advertised on menues but most Thai food places have it by request. He said no and so I end up choosing the Jasmine tea. He stood there with a sarcastic look on his face and asked me "is that it".. I said yes, for now. I swear to you, his face turned red. He told me that I couldn't just order tea. I have to order something else. YEP! I said I just want tea for now, is that alright. He said "no, people think they can just order tea and just sit in the restaurant for long time this is busy time for us".... I took another look around the restaurant to find that there was now only one other person in the restaurant than me and asked him to look around too. I couldn't believe what I was hearing. I told him...hey, I will order...but I just want tea to start....this vegetable brain just stood there like an idiot. I said ya know what....don't bring me anything. I won't be disrespected by anyone, certainly not you. How dare you treat me like this. Then as I was grabbing my coat and purse he continues to explain the crazy policy of no one item like beverage only during rush hour. What a waste of brain space. I will never go there again or recommend that place. From the other review I have read here, I should...
