I love their food. Delicious. Great prices in the store too. Unfortunately food service varies depending on who's working. The owner and his brother (who used to have his own restaurant/store on Emerald) are both nice and welcoming but the young man who works there is not. He's often on his phone and is super nice to regulars who are of the same culture but not to anyone else. Like regulars get bags of their beautiful naan and the rest of us are told no. It's bad business to tell three customers they can't buy extra bread then have someone else walk in 5 minutes afterwards and be sold a big bag of what we all were told we couldn't have. It's kind of mean and to do it so overtly..I don't think the owner would be happy to see this. And if he's working, sometimes a sandwich usually served on that beautiful naan instead comes out in dry old lavash with no explanation. Usually if he's the one working,...
Read moreBest samoon (Iraqi naan-like bread) around! It’s a quiet place, divided into a grocery store and restaurant with 7 or 8 booths. It’s hidden in a corner of a strip mall, so not enough people know about it, but they should. The food is delicious.
My partner and I started with dolmas, warm and served with olive oil, plenty of sumac, and some cooked tomatoes. We then each had a sandwich on warm samoon, one with shish taouk (chicken kebab meat) and one with Iraqi kebab, made with ground lamb, cooked fresh with a rich but not spicy-hot combination of spices. It’s a full-sized kebab’s worth of meat. For $8, that’s a good deal. It had just a little too much raw onion in the sandwich, though. The shish taouk was cooked to the right of doneness, not dry or over cooked like some grilled chicken breast can get. The owners and staff are super...
Read moreI came in and placed an order the day before I needed it. Spoke to them about my needs on feeding 10 people for a meeting. We decided on chicken skewers with rice, hummus, salad and bread. Upon arrival, food was still being prepared and actually came out 15 minutes later than requested. I again advise them on needing to supply utensils for 10 people. I was offered 4 sets of forks and knives and no plates. Asked again for some to go dishes and was told that I should go to Albertsons and buy something. I was pretty shocked after just spending a $180 at their establishment. Once I got to my car a gentleman did Chase out the door and reluctantly offered some to go boxes to try and accommodate.
Overall the food was par and I wouldn't personally recommend this as a place...
