Manzanita Cantina and Grill — Restaurant in Idyllwild-Pine Cove

After my experience here with my partner, left me no choice but to put this out there.

Our server was good, forgot a couple things but that’s normal, she was the only one there until this second server showed up.

When the second server was dropped off and the car drove away, this young girl in the backseat with the window down started BARKING extremely loud from the car. It caught me off guard because I first thought it was a dog, which would’ve been fine, but nope, just some little girl barking unnecessarily loud. We shrugged it off at first, obviously quite bothered a bit, until the car very purposely drove by AGAIN, on the main road this time, with the same girl barking very loud. Now that’s what the final straw was.

When my partner brought it to the other server’s attention, she very condescendingly said “she’s just a kid” and “sorry if you’re offended by that” like, yeah… we very much were, because it was very obviously directed towards us.

Considering how the awful server treated the situation when my partner spoke to her, it’s no surprise that the other adult in the car doesn’t know how to be a good parent and control their brat of a child disturbing people trying to eat at a restaurant. How embarrassing is it for an adult not able to handle their child, or even care.

We weren’t even finished with our food or drinks and asked for boxes and the check.

Our server apologized to us and told us the owner was sitting inside where the other server was and asked if we’d like to speak to him. We said yes. When he came out and we expressed to him the encounter we had with the bratty barking girl, the server associated with said barking girl and her condescending attitude, he didn’t really seem to care all that much, his apology didn’t seem genuine. We didn’t really feel heard. That’s not someone I’d ever want to work under and I feel bad for our server working at an establishment like that.

Honestly, the best authentic Mexican food in Idyllwild! I came on friday and ordered the Agauchiles and they were delicious with the perfect amount of spice! My husband ordered the enchiladas and they where fresh and the sauce was amazing. The beans and rice taste just like home.

We where so impressed with not just there food but also their costumer service so....we came back for round 2 the following day and this time I got pic to share with you guys!!!

On our 2nd return I ordered a Coctel de Camaron y pulpo (shimp & octopus seafood cocktail) when it arrived it looked so colorful and you could tell the vegetables where freshly cut! I took the first bite and I am not lying its been a while since I has such an amazing coctel! It had the perfect amount of lemon, veggies and the flavor was so delicious. The shrimp and pulpo (octopus) cooked to perfection. My mouth is watering just talking about it!

My husband really loves the enchilada sauce so this 2nd round he went with enchiladas again and flautas. Amazing flavor and servings where perfect.

Hands down the the best authentic Mexican food in Idyllwild and I have been to several when I visit the town.

Looks can be deceiving.

Upon entering the place we saw a small room with six or eight tables pushed to the walls, dominated by 2 unused pool tables in the middle. When we receive menus we notice that the prices are quite more expensive than we had gathered from online information. The chips could have used salt, and the salsa bar was unimpressive.

But the food. Ohhhh the fooood! Expensive? Yes. But the portion sizes were HUGE. And oh so delicious. Our moods brightened up instantly once we got to eating. I ordered the tortilla soup, which truly hit the spot after a day gallavanting in the cold, and of which I have enough left over to last me at least one more full meal.

And the service was wonderful. Victor took care of us, made jokes with us, and was attentive and jovial. He also made the experience so much more positive.

TLDR: Despite initial concerns about the semi-dull atmosphere and unexpected prices, the entrees and service were fantastic, and we will absolutely be retuning on...
