Heather, the hostess, a middle aged female sporting an undercut, did not make us feel welcome here at all. My sister and I had smiles on our faces as you do when you enter an unfamiliar restaurant to order take out, and all we got back from Heather was a deadpan, passive aggressive attitude. Red flag #1.
We sat by the table near her reception booth while she took care of other patrons. I already felt uncomfortable at this point, which was confirmed by my sister saying, "I think you should do the ordering cause I don't think she likes me very much." Red flag #2
As she comes towards us after assisting other diners, I'm thinking she's going to take our order now. Instead, she makes us stand up, shimmy 5 inches to her booth, and asks us what we wanted. Red flag #3
I told her we wanted 4 large pies. With an annoyed look on her face, she asked me repeatedly what I said. Like pizza hasn't been called "pies" before. She literally works in a pizza joint. Red flag #4
We also wanted wings, so I politely asked how many in 1 order. She stops looking at me and says in the most matter-of-fact manner, "well, it depends on the size of the chicken." Not what I asked. Red flag #5
After that weird interaction, she tops it off by asking me to step away from her booth because "she didn't have a lot of space, and I was kinda leaning into her." My arms were barely touching the side of her booth, plus I've never heard anyone that works at a restaurant say this to me before. Red flag #6
As we sat back down to try and process what had just happened, she decides to annoy us further by asking my sister and I to stand up and move to another table because she didn't want the door to hit us when someone comes into the restaurant. Which was so obviously passive-aggressiveness masking as fake-concern. Red flag #7
As my sister is trying to inject positivity into our situation, I tried to notice how Heather interacted with the other patrons. Which I think is normal for anyone who is wondering why they are being treated this way. Heather was small-talking with them, answering their questions, acting normally. Basically how my sister and I were expecting to be treated in the first place. Red flag #8
My sister and I were the only non-white people in there. In my many years of living here, as a tax-paying, law-abiding US citizen, I've never had to think of the color of my skin while waiting for freaking takeout. Until I unfortunately encountered Heather. Red flag #9
Not once did she say, "you're welcome" to the numerous times my sister and I thanked her. My sister was even bowing to her at times. Nada. No reaction. She made us feel like we should not have been there. Red flag #10
To Heather, maybe it's time for a career change. And DEFINITELY diversity training. You can't be a hostess at a pizza place and have people feel unwelcome. Or worse, make them think of race.
So to anyone not Caucasian, thinking of going to this place expecting a warm welcome if Heather is on duty, you may want to...
Read moreWe get pizza there a fair amount and it is good pizza. Even went there today and bought pizza for the crew painting our place. Long day working around the house and didn't feel like cooking so we went to get some salad and pasta at Mofo's for the first time. The reviews were good at 4.5 and raved about the Spaghetti and meatballs, the garlic bread and Lasagna. We were 0 for 3. The garlic bread was way undercooked and if you are going to put cheese on it then leave it open faced. Putting the top over the bottom just melts all the cheese together and there ends up being cheese only on one side. It was fair.
My wife ordered the lasagna and I ordered the Spaghetti and meatballs. Her Lasagna had too much cheese piled and melted on top. It overpowered the noodles and runny sauce. It did come pretty quick and was piping hot. We sent it back. Can't comment on the Spaghetti and meatballs as it never arrived. About 10 minutes after the piping hot lasagna came, the waiter came over and apologized that my spaghetti and meatballs went to another table but he had put the order in again and it should be out soon. After another 20 minutes and multiple people being served their meals we cancelled the order. Salad Bar was good, that's all we ate with the undercooked garlic bread.
Will still get pizza but go to...
Read moreI recently visited mofo for a takeout order with my family, and unfortunately, our experience was far from pleasant. While Heather, the hostess, appeared to be courteous and attentive to other customers, she exhibited a starkly different attitude towards my family, suggesting a lack of cultural sensitivity.
Heather was dismissive and rude when we asked basic questions about the menu. Her responses were curt, and she seemed visibly annoyed by our presence. At one point, she even shooed us away, citing that my uncle was too close to her. While we understand and respect personal space, her reaction was disproportionately harsh and unprofessional.
It’s disheartening to see such behavior in what should be a friendly and welcoming establishment. This experience has left a sour taste, and we will be taking our business elsewhere in the future. Customer service should be consistent and respectful to all patrons, and it’s clear that they have some improvements to make in this regard.
I made a phone call afterwards to speak to a manager, but heather insisted I speak to her since no one was available. Then, instead of being apologetic, she was argumentative with me.
Nonetheless, the pizza was ok, and the mozzarella sticks are lacking some...
