Dave's Bakery & Deli — Restaurant in Independence

During a stop-over in Independence MO to see the Harry Truman home ... we meandered around the town square area to find a bite to eat. Based on ratings and looking for a relaxed setting ... we decided to try Dave's. It was a 100% correct decision. The food (cheeseburger and salmon sandwich with fries and fried pickles) was excellent and prepared "just right". For a relatively small casual restaurant ... they have an incredible variety of entrées and delicious-looking bakery items.

The owners and their team were very kind and helpful... and efficient! They treated us like "VIPs" even though it was getting close to closing time.

Overall it was a great experience and we highly recommend Dave's for a meal anytime of the day ... or just for a brief tasty pastry. A true slice of...

Opens at 7am, got there at 7:30a. A few people sitting at the tables having a bit of breakfast Not a wide selection in the cases. Sticky rolls, danish, turnovers and a couple specialty items. Most everything as heavily glazed. We had the blackberry strudel which had a great blackberry flavor. Often blackberries are somewhat tart to me but these were sweet Strudel seemed a little dense on the bottom to me but the wife really liked it We’ll have the apple sticks a bit later. First off for those looking for fresh not frozen paddies then you might as well skip now..I ordered a cheeseburger with a side of French fries.Not 5 star but taste like you would except from a regular cheeseburger..the fries were hot served with a side of ketchup…I’m wondering though how they cooked my burger…there is no smell of cooked/cooking food🧐…having said all this if you don’t mind spending over 20 for 2 sandwiches and one side of fries(and don’t mind the uncertainty of how the meat is cooked then feel free to...
